Well, well well
Somehow, we knew this was coming somewhere our there were enough people crying over their precious. KOMs Being ruthlessly taken away by some cyclist, using wind to their advantage! Now don’t get me wrong those cyclist hold KOM‘s in high regard to their status and hierarchy in the cycling and Strava world let’s face it. It feels good to see that crown when you did it under your own power with zero help from mother nature fair enough.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that sees us as a little ridiculous. I mean, I totally could go on an all day rant about other various forms of Strava doping everything from big group rides to team training, motor pacing, etc. you get my point and I because I was thoroughly sick to my stomach did not read the entire article so maybe they want to address this as Strava doping as well I guess I never really held KOM‘s in that high of regard that I need them so bad to survive, but there again when you’re a real bike racer, KOM’s shouldn’t matter at all. But I do know a few people that seriously get an itchy butt over their precious collection, being taken away by some soul less human powered by a steady 20 mile an hour southwest wind. Have we as a cycling society in a hole become so bankrupt that we now have to suspend segments during a mother nature event?
I know a certain soul I’d call him new to cycling. Yeah OK I’ll give him a nod.
He’s done some hard. Events has the right equipment, but he is still pretty wet behind the ears after a brief discussion with him. A out of town segment that he is going to try and obtain he proudly said I’m going to attack and go all out on this climb. The top is at 30% now mind you his power to weight ratio is probably at about a 2.3 and he literally accused the leading KOM holder doing it on a E bike I quickly interrupted him but nicely and said, do you know that for a fact, and of course he started throwing out these wattage numbers, blah blah, blah blah blah cause he just that type of person, obsessed over number's etc I said well let me see the segment I said did you even look at the guy that owns a segment and he said well no so because I’m me and I’m always curious who the gunslingers are out there? I quickly pointed out that this fella probably wasn’t on an E bike as the stars and stripes on his jersey sleeved probably put him at a legitimate cycling point and also the fact that he weighed about 110 pounds and has logged thousands and thousands and thousands of miles every year. I also went on to say That a wise old, hard cycling man once said “there are gunslingers everywhere“ He of course just shrugged it off..cuz what do i know, I still use 172mm cranks and mechanical shifting
These Itchy butt people are the ones trying to change cycling as we know it among the Strava world. As well as other facets of the cycling world
Yeah, this was the rant. I didn’t want to do today, but the blog is pretty boring in general.
You can only have so many female cyclist, quotes and Formula One cars before it gets even more boring thank
God there are still people with itchy butts.
I am TMS And I hate TMS
