1.ScottyQ 1998
on a unseasonably warm Dec 7th with temps hovering near 70 degrees at The Pontiac lake campground course... ScottyQ came out and trounced a stacked field filled with some of the fastest roadies and mountain bikers of time period
2.ScottyQ 1999
in league of his own and prior un credit cx titles in his resume cut em up at Bloomer park Scotty Q wins handily
3.Brett Robinson 2000
Bloomer Park..temps hovering mid thirties..Brett Robinson long time road honch and highly skilled crosser upsets the Pony on a greasy course..
4.Pony 2001
Stoney Creek Metro park..old course..cold dry and fast temps mid 40s..after attacks from Bookwalter and tiles the Black Ace bobbles in the second to last corner handing the win to the Pony
5 .Pony 2002
Bloomer park..On National championship form Pony wins his second state championship title
6 The Black Ace 2003
Now fully comfortable being a Michigan resident The Black Ace and Walker lay it down at Lower Huron..35 degrees greasy and slippery..The Wiz the Evil dude and super talented Nate Griffen cant bring the duo back..ultimately the Black Ace wins his first scene title..leaving Walker to yank a stuck chain..and allowing a three up sprint for second..Foshag found out its not wise to lead out a guy like Nate..
7.Pony 2004
Munson Park mid 40s winds and greasy Now part of the three man dream team the Pony on good form rides away from his teammates the Black Ace and Walker..along with a whole slew miscene legends..SIMONSTER wised up and got on board a CX bike for the day got in the top 5
8 Walker 2005
with a fresh layer of 12 inches of snow and temps hovering around 28 degrees with a large solid field The Guy they said was too fat to win was now fully comfortable with the Jenny Craig plan Jer Walker rides off with Eric Jellum..only drop him to take his title
the Evil Dude and the Black Ace along with Saari and the Wiz round out the podium
9 The Black Ace 2006
Waterford Hills Cold windy and frozen The Black Ace on form for the national champs Jersey quickly dispenses the usual suspects of The Pony, Walker, the Evil Dude and Saari to take title number 2
10 The Wiz 2007
Waterford Hills..eerily cold and foggy with slush and snow..The Wiz now is in full Argyle Army effect goes all in on lap two leaving the Black Ace and the Evil Dude to pick up the scraps
11. Foshag 2008
when 22 mph winds and 14 inches of snow..hit the ground in Waterford..and with the WIZ gone chasing the USGP title that left the door open.....after having a solid second half of the season Saari looks to be on point to taking the title..in his usual form he rides away from the field only to fall numerous times to the point of complete destruction...capitalizing on Tims poor bike handling The Black Ace and the Evil Dude traded brotherhood blows for over 50 minutes..with Foshag getting the win..and never to be scene again
12.The Wiz 2009
Springfield Oaks...Mother Nature came and laid it down for em the WIZ riding like 10 men and the form of a guy with USGP wins takes his second title in a quagmire of mush and grease with The Underdog Saari close behind...
13.Parmalee 2010
Parmachickin and the Orange crush show was in full effect in the similar conditions of the last years event The youngest and greenest guy has shown solid form all season.. powers away from the wobbly field in another edition of Springfield Oaks
14.Sven 2011
Das German rolls into town in the fall of 2011..and pretty much Blitzkriegs em all year this cold sloppy day at Springfield Oaks was no exception..The Lil Pony showed old form and rides in second..
15.Sven 2012
Despite the fact that Das German is puttin out more watts than the entire scene did 5 seasons ago...On the day at Addsion Oaks dry and cold saw a awesome 3 man battle to the end..With Sven winning a three up sprint against a rejuvenated Parmachicken and the Roadking
16.Sven 2013
Addsion Oaks smooth and manageable in moderate temps made for a perfect combo..Sven sets the record for now winning his third straight title with the up and coming with a super strong west guy Arron Beebee on box number 2..this was also the year of the Last days of the WIZ
17.York 2014
By now the Bunny has figured it..and with a solid support of the CX network wins Bloomer in a muddy way over his teammates Burke and the Pony
18 York 2015
notching wins and solid rides south of the border at the OVCX series the Bunny and Yankus ride away from the field on cold slippery day in GR..in the end Yankus faded and the Bunny earned title two..and in similar Evil_Dude fashion called CX a career
19.Burke 2016
GR again..after being around since early Y2K...feeling maybe Burke was cursed and would never get a title opened up a can on the crippled field to finally get his name on the Michigan CX cup
20.Burke 2017
All Fall it was the NKOTB in the scene..weekend after weekend The 3T mounted ScottyA made the elite field look like bumbling idiots
until that cold day in Mid Michigan..Burke comes out of hiding and wins his 2 title in what has so far been the closest race to date..ScottyA and DannyS fill spots two and three
21. Burke 2018
after ScottyA called it a season..and the Yankus hour never found its prime time groove...the guy who has just missed a the jersey more than Burke did ...Tim Saari had to be considered the Favorite...Burke hid ..he stayed clear of the scene did dad things and mans work elsewhere went to work fast and proved to what the scene already new he is one bad mofo..winning the 3rd set of keys to club house over the only other guy in the scene that has as close to as many titles as him Nate Williams
22. Burke 2019
In what looked to be the year..the year That the underdog finally acquired the keys to the cabin.. After Scotty pulled the plug by November..Timmy had already been on the ramp out into December ..with only Nate Dog and Junge around to trade blows with Timmy was on from..But when the cup is on the line..Last years Champion wasnt going to just stay home and pass out drink boxes, fold laundry and watch Toy Story
that cold Saturday in Mount Pleasant..Burke came out to rep the cup and doing so only had Nate Williams to really contend with..and doing so secured his name for record setting 4 times on the cup
legends of the Michigan CX Cup..
Man each and every stinky post is a labor of one from normally a one man show..
The CX state championship was not entirely gathered and composed by T hiself.. a few helpful folks dropped names and opinions to help get its feeble legs off the ground..but the ones T called on to get the wrest the fields failed miserably... So this is an attempt to keep make up for it..dont bitch its all i got for today...

You know i ask alot of folks
what they love
what they hate
why they do things
why they dont do things
there favorite colors
there favorite smells..places..and sites..
No one ever asks T shit and thats just find with me cuz id probably just lie to you anyway...
But one thing I aint lying to you is..i hate makin prediction..like some folks in my life i just gotta make shit up to keep the lines of normal human communication open to save hurrts
Makin prediction..guessin weight..age and cost of shit..yea i aint too good at that..
So these predictions of The 2019 CX State Championship are coming off straight from the hip...
Elite Women
Not since The Queen stood on the thrown has there been a gal as dominate as Melissa Seymour..its almost comical..The Big question T has ....is where is the Cup for these gals..who has it?
The Masters Men..
wow in Ts opinion the most Hotly contested group of them all..
Lets Start with the 35 field...
what in the hell has happened to this group..a lousy 4 pre-registered ....Man that sucks....
Makes T grouchy..Im puttin the FTW on the Duffield guy..T thinks its about time we reconsider this 1 hr 35+ race and scoot these group back down to 45 realistic minutes next fall..come on folks whatta ya say..
The Masters 45 plus
its is where the action is gonna be...if Ts rotten old grey matter can recall The lil Pony got tripped up by the only guy in the scene other than Gooch that needs that American Express card..Simon Bailey..
I dunno this year the Pony looks pretty healthy and has notched some nice rides all fall.. but The Ponys health runs week to week..So im puttin Pony on the win list..the spoiler for second..is going to be Walcharz solid all fall never leaving the State...there is a secondary battling that goes on in this race..That cross-fit lookin bastard and old man Gooch have been trading punches since Alma..with Gooch racin outta state more than anyone in the scene I gotta think its his turn to toss the medicine ball at that guy..come on man the guy is runnin cantis for Christ sake...
The Elite.....
The Elite men...
The Elite Field...
Well if you would of asked T this question 3 weeks back id say its Timmys to lose again...the guy has been haulin ass..racing gravel..and all sorts in between..until last weekend he was pretty much a dude..
after all the kids got pooped out from bunny-hoppin and all the other maybe shows...
T finds
it hard to gauge that Junge kids fitness..the guy has been gettin gutted from groin to chin with a dull deer antler since the first of September racing against the nations best...sometimes that can be good..and other times can just make a dude dam flat.............and Nate Dog will be Nate Dog..never count him out if he decides he needs time away from the fam for another shot at a title..and the guy who hasnt been scene on the scne all season until a few weeks back..Burke...never a man to not rep the cup has turned in a consistent number of rides in a two week period..will it be enough to claim an unprecedented 4 th title...?
But what does T no?

U-No what I love
really love...?
The weather...
its prolly one of the single most things in life that always keeps folks guessin..almost like Christmas..almost like before folks starting to wanna know what birth there next kids gonna be..
and the weathermen bah there just guessin 50% of the time...
I find it kinda peculiar..peculiar that there still are fair weather racers any longer..
pre-reg is closed for this weekend and the total number of riders looks to be at all time low..
Can we blame it on the weather?
well in my worthless lower than normal power to weight ratio opinion..
i say no..cuz when you look at that forecast it dont look all that bad..come on folks..Its Michigan..
NO STOP T rewind............
find it kinda peculiar..peculiar that there still are fair weather racers
find it kinda peculiar..peculiar that there still are fair weather racers
find it kinda peculiar..peculiar that there still are fair weather racers
find it kinda peculiar..peculiar that there still are fair weather racers
Less Than 15 riders can go back more than 7 years....
look it up...its true..
so we cant fault anyone here..they just dont know..
for some it will b e not the most fun day on the bike..
But for the 15 or so still carrying the torch looks like your gonna have a pretty fun day at the office..
Enjoy it and relish in the fact
the Orange Crush wont be there...
‘We have the talents, but we’re just letting them flitter away’ Warbasse on U.S. WorldTour block
Former U.S. national champion Larry Warbasse feels young American talent needs a truly American WorldTour team to nurture them into stars of the future.
Larry Warbasse will start his second year at quintessentially French team AG2R-La Mondiale in 2020 as one of 19 American riders in the WorldTour.
Despite being the third most-populated nation in the world, the USA is only the 11th most-represented nation in cycling’s male top tier. And while 2019 was a dominant year for U.S. junior and women’s cycling, the former national champion doesn’t see a remedy for the low-key elite men’s side of the sport for some time yet.
“In terms of women’s and junior cycling, the Americans are killing it, and that’s awesome, but at the highest levels of men’s road we’re really not, and I think that’s a real shame,” Warbasse told VeloNews. “We have the talents but we’re just letting them flitter away.”
While the U.S. has newly-crowned female world time trial champion Chloe Dygert and junior men’s road race champion Quinn Simmons, no rider has made a massive mark on the WorldTour in recent years. This lack of results and the associated UCI points means the U.S road team has only qualified two elite men’s riders for the Tokyo Olympics.
“For Tokyo, we only qualified two guys for the road race and two in the time trial, and that’s a big change from years’ past,” Warbasse said.
“Not so many years ago, USA was one of the biggest nations in men’s cycling and for a nation of our size and with our resources we shouldn’t be so far down the rankings. I think a big part of it is that there’s no real American WorldTour team.”
In Europe’s cycling heartlands, teams tend to have a strong national identity: Movistar is Spanish, Deceuninck-Quick-Step and Lotto-Soudal are quintessentially Belgian, and Groupama FDJ and Warbasse’s AG2R team are staunchly French.
There are two WorldTour teams that are registered as American: Trek-Segafredo and EF Education First. Both squads boast a distinctly international flair. Trek-Segafredo boasts strong ties to Italy, with an Italian co-sponsor; Italian and Belgian directors; and seven Italian riders on the roster for 2020.
Warbasse points out that American-registered EF Education First is proudly international, with riders from 16 different nations on its 2020 roster. Of the team’s 30 riders for 2020, six are American.
“I wouldn’t think them an ‘American’ American team,” Warbasse says. “It’s not a real go-to place for young Americans.”
For 2020 EF Education First signed rising U.S. rider Neilson Powless.
“The French teams are very French and it’s important them to have French riders and staff, and that’s huge for French cycling,” Warbasse said. “It gives the guys a good place to learn and grow and develop. But Americans have to go to Europe to find opportunities and development.”
For 2020, junior world champion Simmons steps up to WorldTour with Trek-Segafredo, and 21-year-old American time trial champion Ian Garrison enters the top tier of the sport with Deceuninck-Quick-Step. Elsewhere, young talent Brandon McNulty has signed for UAE-Team Emirates, and 25-year-old Sepp Kuss has renewed for a third year with Dutch team Jumbo-Visma.
Warbasse, 29, moved to France in his early 20s when he started his WorldTour career, racing on a multinational roster with BMC Racing. Since then the Michigan native has ridden with Swiss team IAM Cycling and Irish outfit Aqua Blue Sport. He spoke to VeloNews hot off the back of five hours of training on the roads he now calls home in Nice.
“French riders tend to develop in France, but the Americans, we go to different international teams,” he said. “There’s no place for young Americans to go at WorldTour level, where they’re really going to be taken care of and given time to develop and get that investment like they would if they had a team from their own country. And I think until we get that, we’re going to continue to struggle at the elite level.”
With the recent confirmation of Tour of California’s hiatus for 2020, the sport will become even further removed from the U.S. 2019 also saw the retirement of Taylor Phinney and Peter Stetina’s decision to move into full-time gravel racing, removing two veteran Americans from the WorldTour.
“Taylor retired this year, [Andrew] Talansky a few years ago, both before the normal time they would stop,” Warbasse said. “Maybe if they had a better environment to be in through their careers, that they enjoyed more and it wasn’t so difficult, it wouldn’t have been like that.”
“All these European nations take care of their own, but we don’t. There’s no real American team to look after the guys,” Warbasse said.
“I’d love to see that change, if one day we could have a really awesome American team again and invest in the young guys and see them grow, that would be sweet.”

GT Bicycles Partners w/ Gary & Craig Turner on Limited Edition ’79 BMX Cruiser
GT Bicycles announced a limited edition frameset made in partnership with the brand’s OG, Gary Turner. The frame is a re-make of history – the 1979 26″ BMX Cruiser. Available in four colors, it also includes a gift pack including a Flite pad set, GT shirt, decal, hat, and keychain.
GT Bicycles Limited Edition ’79 BMX Cruiser w/ Gary & Craig Turner
GT is a fan of throwback BMX bikes, and they’re at it again with a new limited run of 1979 BMX Cruisers. What’s more, only 100 will ever be made – and they’re hand-built in Turner’s own workshop. Check out the press release below for full details and how to get your hands on a piece of
history.
Wilton, Conn. – November 21, 2019 – GT Bicycles, a premium brand of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) today released a modern version of the iconic 1979 26” BMX Cruiser frameset to celebrate the brand’s new partnership with original GT Bicycles founder Gary Turner and his son
Craig.
After reconnecting with GT in 2017, plans around a reunion project began brewing. “GT has been a part of our family since I was five years-old,” said Craig Turner. “Partnering with the company again is really exciting.”
Only 100 limited edition frame, fork, seat post and handlebar sets of the original 1979 26” BMX Cruiser design will be produced. The new framesets will be the first GT Bicycles made in the United States in almost 20 years. They will be built in the Turner’s workshop in Orange, California, not far from where it all began. The framesets will be designed with the same 1 1/4” toptube and downtube outer diameter as well as an American bottom bracket, and 5/8” thick chainstays. The dropouts will be beefed up from the original 1/8” to 3/16” for added strength. The headtube will be updated from 1” to 1 1/8” to accommodate modern headsets and forks.
In the early 1970s, while BMX was still in its infancy, kids would race their bikes on the big dirt tracks of Southern California between motocross races. The bikes produced by leading companies of the day were heavy, slow, and fragile. Gary Turner took notice and decided to change this. A professional drag racer, Gary had experience welding and building cro-mo chassis for dragsters. In 1972, using the same high-grade aircraft cro-moly used for dragsters, Turner designed his first purpose-built BMX bike for his son Craig to race at the motocross track. People began to take notice, including shop owner Richard Long, and together, the two teamed up to start GT Bicycles producing some of the best BMX and mountain bikes on the market, including the 26” BMX Cruiser of which less the 100 were made due to the on-set of 24” wheels in 1980 setting the trend for the future.
“BMX and GT became passions (and remain passions) once I started taking my son to the track more than 45 years ago,” added Gary Turner. “It’s exciting to see my son Craig developing and building frames and forks like I did back in the day, and we’re looking forward to doing this with GT.”
“This is a special partnership celebrating the accomplishments of my father and Richard Long and the lasting impression they’ve left on GT Bicycles,” noted Craig.
When asked what made, and continues to make, the BMX cruiser so popular among riders Craig believes “It’s the camaraderie of BMX. It’s for the people that used to race back in the day, you don’t have to gear up and go to the BMX racetrack and race, you just get out and pedal. Now, everyone meets up, goes out and has fun. This bike is perfect for that.”
The framesets will retail for $899. Those who purchase the frameset will also receive a custom GT Flite pad set, GT t-shirt, decal, hat and keychain. The frames will be available in four colors: yellow, black, candy blue and candy red.
