FRANKENSTUFF

Yea ok, right Frankenmuth, Miscene home of sub quality chicken dinners, cheap Bavarian looking architecture, and bus loads of nearly deads, but all that said..still a great location for a bike race. The only thing missing from this event would be elevation changes to split the fields up alittle more. But hey what do you want? In the the state of the state, we sceners will take anything right now. The weekend in lil Bavarian can be summed up in one way OK, nothing too epic or overly controversial to speak except the lack of results posted other than from KROSKE cell phone.
Ya gotta hand it to those that go, The Wolverines 1/2er's look rejuvenated in 09, lotsa upstarts stirring the pot, and to think we thought losing DANNYK would of been the demise of the RED ARMY. Tms has gotta alotta respect for the crew and the willingness to cover anything that chirps. cruise scored another solid ride, No surprise to TMS!
The Masters 35+ field was what we referred to as TEXT BOOK racing a huge group of guys coming in all within mere seconds. Looked alot like the old Major Taylor road race except we didn't see a bomb go off in the middle just meters from the line.
Cat 3 all we can say is..PATROBB, no! he didn't win but he rode solid again way to go pal.
TMS isn't over ally excited about this race, just fact of the near dawn start time 2 weeks in a row is brutal. but it beats nothing at all.

TMS HOT LIST!
KROSKE
CRUZ
JIMBRUCE!
PIZZA after the race.
the weather!
the early start time. hey we get to get home before dinner
That old dude from Carbon racing were the heck did he come from? did we miss something?
The Williams brothers, how many sceners getaway in break with your bro?

TMS COLD LIST
the early start time
1 race on a holiday weekend? WTF?

BASHERS CORNER

We interrupt this race report for Bashers corner...

Tri GEEKS, yea, were sure at one point most of you have poked fun at this odd disciple of our scene, maybe even some of us are, or have been one. Basher took a a look at those some refer to as TRI GEEKS
Point:

Fuckin A, where do I start? Jesus you assholes piss me off. Maybe it shouldn't be pissing me off as much as it just makes me wonder, what the fuck are you thinking? I've seen some weird shit riding on the road and mtb, but these Darwinians take the cake. The things I see them do make powermeters sound like a great idea for everyone. First of all, what's up with riding jacked up carbon Cervelo bikes with tubular wheels on training rides? Ok, the frame I can see, but training on a tri-spoke and disc? Really? Man you must have Bill Gates money to be rolling around on that in training. Also, do you really need to wear a time trial helmet while you're training? Seriously? Are you training or racing? That looks so dumb I can only shake my head. How are you benefitting yourself by going all race day on your training rides? Wouldn't you want to ride some heavier wheels and a normal helmet so that when you do race.......oh, I get it, you don't actually enter races do you? Ok, this makes sense now. This is probably why it's so easy for everyone and their brother to be triathletes. When you don't actually have to put your neck on the line and face the Pain of getting your ass kicked, you can look the part and tell everyone you are some super serious athlete so we think you're cool, but really you're just riding around with all your tricked out shit getting passed by old fat dudes sitting upright. If you have all that shit on and you're riding at a park where there will be other people riding bikes, you better fucking be the fastest rider there. How can you go to sleep at night if you're not. Theoretically, you have the fastest set up there. I know how you get to sleep, you tuck it between your legs and smile in the mirror. Which leads me me to my next point. On more than one occasion now, I have seen these doucheturds riding the bike (tubulars and all) and the helmet, wait for it.......with no jersey on. WHAT? As narcissistic as roadies can be and as cool as mtb'rs think they are, I have never seen either group of "racers" ride shirtless. This can only be summed up in one way: You are for the Gays. Go put a jersey on you fucking homo! This ain't myspace. You're not some model. You're just a douche. GO AWAY!

Counterpoint:

Why all the hate? See, we can't ride our bikes off road or, God forbid, turn our bikes, so mountain biking is out. Besides, we would get way too dirty doing that. Our road bikes aren't very comfortable and frankly don't look very fast, so tri bikes are perfect for us. Set the bars up so I can just lounge all ride and having that disc and tri-spoke really makes look fast as hell. And don't you know how many seconds I'd be losing if I didn't wear the aero helemt. I keep a log you know and if I don't make vast improvements, I might get crushed someday. And you only see me getting passed by these so called old fat dudes sitting upright when I'm resting between intervals. I can't help it every time you pass me coming or going that I'm in between intervals. That's just bad timing on your part. Besides, that old fat dude is really a stealth young guy with a bad position. Do you know how much faster he'd be if he were on a tri-bike? And you got it all wrong. If you expect me to get to sleep at night, of course I have to without a jersey. Do you know stupid it would look if I were to stand in front of the mirror tucking it in with a shirt on? Talk about Gay! Fuck that shit.
REMEMBER: if you cant race..TRI

BASHERS CORNER

You got one? thinking of up'in your game and getting one? Basher put his thinking cap on for this ONE and spoke his mind on the neat little toys we call powermeters

Powermeters

Point:

One of the best inventions to come our way in cycling and yet one of the worst. Why the worst? Because now every tard with enough dough to afford one thinks he's "training" now. Too bad you don't know shit about what to do with the data. What good is it to know that you're putting out 250 watts if you're not going to do anything with it. It seems like everybody has one now. There's the most common with the Powertap. A fine tool indeed and with their new SL version in carbon, quite fashionable. It's like it's not even there, as if it came OEM on the bike. Then there's the King of the Hill, SRM. Usually these dudes get a pass from power weenie scrutiny. If you can afford an SRM, you're usually good enough and smart enough to use it. But still, thanks to companies like Cannondale, you can actually get one as a stock item on certain upper crust models. Thanks for enabling those of us who think we can, but really can't. Data driven tools are only as good as the person using the data. Know what to do with it and you might be in good shape. Hell, you might even get faster (assuming you understand the concept of periodization, something that is lost on most Michigan racers). Looking to be too cool for school and you may as well have bought a heart rate monitor when all you do is ride to the coffee shop. Fucking useless.

Counterpoint:

How am I supposed to get better if I don't have the proper tools to train with? I have the carbon bike, the carbon wheels with tubular tires, the best nutritional supplements known to man, and I even have one of those Garmin thingies so I know where the hell I went when it's all over. I can only ride at 130 heart rate for so many weeks. I got to open the throttle man. If I don't show up to Waterford or Runway plaza knowing how many watts I'm throwing down, how can I talk smack about it on Monday morning? How can I compare myself to the very best while ignoring the role that this genetic mess my asshole parents gave me plays. Come on now, powermeters are where it's at. I'm in full control and can take on the world. I will be the next Lance Armstrong. Without power, I wouldn't be able to crank it all winter long and thus wouldn't have a clue as to when I'm going to burn out guns a blazing. Fuck that shit.

K09 K09 K09 K09 K09

K09, TOKV, tour of kensington valley, whatever you wanna call it, Its still the same ol, same Ol, Not that theres anything wrong with that but, some might refer to it as text book Michigan negative racing in some fields. you gonna chase? no are you gonna ? NO! ok well i guess i will, ooops too late, hey who are these guys ? they don't look like our Field, no matter lets get to know em, and use em for awhile..
It happens as TMS's old buddy Ronnie often said whadda ya gonna do about man? whadda ya gonna do? That being said, those that got to the line didn't deserve it any less. Hell in some cases even making all the way was feat in itself. The fields were thick closing off the Cat5 group was expected, The presence of Bissell pro's wasn't, which led to a distinct shake up in the usual miscene peckin order.Key props go out to Essex brass hombre's Alan Antonuck and Thom Elias for strong rides. White Lightning road slick, as did David Hietikko. we never realized D was 45. he ages well. Patrick Robb continues on with another great ride. MIA's were abound and missed in and around all fields. the big question on TMS's mind is when are we gonna get that stage race format again we were teased with 2 yrs ago?

BASHERS CORNER

You have scene this guy right? maybe your one of them, TMS spots at least one at every race during the warm months here in Miscne. The guy may have the right to go topless, at a race, pool party, at the car wash, or just chillin after a tough ride. basher states his thoughts on those that go.

Point: Hey, No Shirt Guy. Fuck You! Yep, you're a self loathing piece of turd. We get it, you work out. You eat right. You have a little dick. Enough already. You must be a homo because the last time I checked, there weren't a whole bunch of chix hanging out at bike races. And those who do are either taken or...well, I'll save that one for another day. Go back to your car and put a shirt on, we don't want to see that shit. And you better not be driving an Iroc either or else I'm pouring sugar in your gas tank.

Counterpoint: Come on guys, I spend a lot of time sculpting this Fizik. Do you know how much work goes into this? I mean, I have to spend a lot of time in front of the mirror while all of you are out riding your bikes. Must be nice. Do you know how much faster I'd be if I rode more? I sacrifice a lot in this world to look this good in the hopes that one of you might look at me and get jealous. Put a shirt on? Are you kidding? And wreck everything in life I work hard for? Fuck that shit.

BASHERS CORNER

The essence of spring flingin we all have done it right? is it worth while, is it a wattage waste, or lets just do it because.? basher couldnt resist on speaking out on the rights of spring in MISCENE.

Point: Ah yes, it's 20 degrees outside, snow up to our chins, and ice all over the roads. What should we do today? Right, let's go race our bikes!! The annual right of uselessness for the most important meaningless race series: The Spring Fling. Spring Fling? What kind of fucking name is that? Sounds a little gay to me. Maybe you'd be better preparing your flower beds. This is the time of year where everyone gets to drag their dicks out and show us all how fast they can go when it doesn't count. Racing in this so called spring is assinine. Its still winter and there are far more important events to be had. Are you so unmotivated to train that you need to "race" your way into shape? Do you get excited showing us how fat you look in lycra? Keep up the good work, you'll be cooked by May. But at least you won some races no one remembers.

Counterpoint: The Spring Series has been a tradition as long as there has been bike racing in Michigan! You have to do it. A chance to dust off the bike and go out and see all your friends again. What better way to get the season started and get in those miles before the real season begins. Look who's been riding their bike this winter. Somebody looks fast already. Without the spring series, what motivation would we have to get out there? Ride the trainer? Go to the gym? Not eat so much? No way, its winter in Michigan. Fuck that shit.
