Rudy..hey Tripp given any thought about a little old man knowledge for the old men?
Tripper..I don’t know Rabbit..you really think I should take the time to lead some horses to the watering hole? Only to have them stare into in utter disbelief and confusion? I mean my years of knowledge and and time spent in the virtual salt mine might not be fully relevant to the average white man…
Rudy..well, let’s just give it a try shall we?
Tripper..OK, Rudy What’s on your mind? You got a question for me?
Rudy..Yeah, can you tell me what are the two biggest mistakes most cyclist/athletes make
Tripper..Well rabbit let me shed a little light on the simplest things that are often overlooked, first 97% of cyclist do not go easy enough on their easy days, and They don’t go hard enough on their hard days
Rudy..oh really why do you say that I would think that that statement would be half true I could see I’m not going easy on an easy day because we get so addicted. I think riding or training at a certain level but then we just wanna mash it on our hard days
Tripper..well, that’s partially true Rudy but what happens is it’s because you don’t go easy enough on your easy days you tend to just ride around and what I’d like to refer to as gray matter so then when it’s time to go hard, you don’t have anything in your legs basically they feel empty and 19 mph it doesn’t help the situation when you have the access to group rides because there is a lot of sitting in group rides and you never really put yourself at the red line unless you’re a completely weak legged undertrained meathead ( of course that’s speech)
Rudy. So tripper How can you correct that?
Tripper..well Rudy if you’re going to do an easy day either do it completely off the bike or soft pedal this doesn’t mean going out and riding that same old Monday morning loop that you’ve done for the past 16 years at 16.5 mile an hour this would be an 8 mph maybe ride to the coffee shop. Or heck, give yourself a day off the bike, hands feet, shoulders, pelvic bones all those things would like a rest every once in a while, then sitting in that same position day and day out.
Rudy..OK, that’s our easy day. That sounds pretty doable but what about our hard day?
Tripper..That’s a little different and a little harder obtain especially if you ride around by yourself all the time, but it doesn’t mean it’s not feasible. Obviously, if you live near an area that you have hills or even a simple overpass That's a good place to do that really hard shit also, if you got one or two really good wing men who are just a level above you that could tax you. You know put you in the red
and of course, if you’re a virtual type of person, use your time wisely and jump in to some Zwift Racing it’s a great tool and it’s at your fingertips convenient. Hell you don’t even have to put out all that clothing to feel suffocated.
Rudy..Wow, tripper that’s some pretty simple stuff right there and you put it in way that even a low wattage kid Can fully grasp!
Tripper. Improving, trying to cut your losses, isn’t completely a mystery if you pay attention and don’t give away percentage points!
