you've got to ride it well

The world is full of Kings and Queens

Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's Heaven and Hell, oh well

And they'll tell you black is really white

The moon is just the sun at nightAnd when you walk in golden halls

You get to keep the gold that falls It's Heaven and Hell, oh no! Fool, fool!
You've got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!

Look for the answer!

Hancock, Weinert, and Walker, hate to bust your bubble but thats triple, double trouble.

Cone azalia will not be a point to point, it will remain as the same as it has been for the past few years. but there will be less wind this year.

Anonymous said...

LATHRUP will remain the same as last year, minus Mini-Me.

thanks so far for the truths.

Walker will be riding in the black kit for Saturn of Toledo. They have all the pieces of the old Blue Wave Minus the Pony.
That could make the 'cross season interesting if they can all come together.

1-day only for kensington? that blows!!!

1-day only for kensington? that blows!!!

Anonymous said...

One day @ kensington? if thats true, Ill be lookin for another race that weekend.

Anonymous said...

1 day at the metro park, thats a shame, even with all the snafu's during the 4's race. last years event was great addition to rather bland crit infested series.

Anonymous said...

Quite possibly one of the best postings in the history of TMS.

Anonymous said...

TOKV, no go? what a pisser.

Anonymous said...

Is the fact that no one is saying otherwise proof that TOKV is one day? Say it ain't so.

Anonymous said...

Hope not, but lets put in Joe's corner, HEY JOE, 1 day or ?

Anonymous said...

heard that TOKV is going to be a 90 plus mile RR for the elite boys...that will be killer!!

Anonymous said...

what's the story on Dexter Crit? Is it a go, is there construction?

Anonymous said...

Dexter Crit HELL! whatta bout the whole dam schedule, HEY PAUL ALMAN can we maybe get a fix on the season yet!

Anonymous said...

I heard the ToKV promoters took so much flak from racers about the $75 entry, what some deemed a lousy crit course and the unanticipated delays, that they were too dejected to make it a 3 stage race again this year.

I also heard that the ambulance service billed them several thousand dollars to treat all the Cat 4's & 5's who kept crashing. I guess some 4/5's even managed to crash in the ITT stage!

Anonymous said...

well if its a $ thing you cant falt em. I cant imagine why there were so many crashes it wasnt like it was a super tech course, but as with anything with low skills any course can kill, too bad, it had all the makings of a great something, Ill probably pass on the RR this year unless they lengthin it and do something about that lame cross style down hill gravel corner, as long as you have spots like that, that are just plain GHETTO, that roadrace will always be just that another place on the calender.

Anonymous said...

can you say..KABOOOOM

Anonymous said...

"Ill probably pass on the RR this year unless they lengthin it and do something about that lame cross style down hill gravel corner, as long as you have spots like that, that are just plain GHETTO, that roadrace will always be just that another place on the calender."

Give me a break, the corner is not that bad. There's not that much gravel, everyone goes slow through it, has there ever even been a crash there??? Agreed on lengthening the race, though.

Anonymous said...

I bet t.boonen complains to the Roubaix organizers that the cobbles makes his hands hurt, and *snif* could they pull a few sections out.

Saddle up, ya bitch.

Anonymous said...

If with all the crashes at TOKV, isn't that why we have USA PSYCLING for race insurance? That shouldn't have come out of the promoters pocket, right?

Anonymous said...

hey good point, JOE!

Anonymous said...

and no i bet TBOON doesnt complain, its his job and likes that shit, not mention cobbles are expected at that race. gravel, glass, speed bumps and neutral corners that get ignored is not part of it, so saddle up and stop thinkin tms is the protour..

Anonymous said...

for those that don't like a little loose gravel, and an occasional pot hole, there's always track racing. otherwise, get to the front instead of hiding in the pack.

The Tour Of Kensington will be a one day road race for 2008 on Saturday, May 17th.

Unfortunately, the cost to put on a stage race is high. In 2007 we ended up losing money on the race. We were unable to secure sponsorship for the race in 2008. The other option would have been to raise the entry fee, but judging from the number of complaints we received in 2007 about the $75 entry, we didn't think this was feasible. Same with cutting the payout.

What many racers sometimes miss, is that there's a whole lot more going on other than just their specific category event. Think about it, in 2007 the ToKV had 12 separate classes. 12 categories x 3 races PLUS the OVERALL, it was like running 48 races in a two day period. WAIT! It WAS RUNNING 48 races in a 2 day period!!!!

It was truly a PEOPLES RACE. Yellow leaders jerseys were handed out to ALL race winners, not just the Pro I/II racers.

While we lost money, seeing 12 year old Alexi Vermeulen grinning after winning that yellow jersey nearly made it worth the effort.

Check it out:

http://www.midwestcyclinggroup.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=992

The amount of effort that goes into organizing a stage race is HUGE, which is exactly why they're only done every 10 years. It takes that long for all involved to forget how difficult it was! :)

So, I hope you'll come out to the race this year. Any money we make from the promotion of our events goes back to our team to support travel, etc. Trust me, no one is getting rich in bike race promotion. Regardless, the ToKV remains the only TRUE road race in the Metro Detroit area and it held on what is one of the top 3 most challenging courses in the state!

All that said, if anyone has a lead on a sponsor who might be interested, let me know! Maybe we could pull it off......

Thanks for your support!

Joe

good point, and Joe if TMS was real we would sponsor the race, can you imagine the TOUR of TMS? could happen?? maybe we could get a anon donation?

Anonymous said...

i'll make an anon donation to have that done! and i was thinking if you sponsored the TOKV maybe we could do as a previous poster suggested and sprinkle some rose petals around the gravel turn around near the beach. maybe that would make him feel more comfortable.

Anonymous said...

Hey TMS, rememeber what i said in the first post, you might just do it!

Anonymous said...

naw, THIS ONE IS JUST ABOUT FRIED.

Anonymous said...

well TOKV or not, do you the SCENE will be accepting of Norm Zellers return? he is happily married to his coach now.

Anonymous said...

yeah I agree, the horese is getting pulpy at this point. Not much more to happen.

Anonymous said...

SIMONSTER ROCKS, way to go mike!!!!

Anonymous said...

Kensington going back to a one day event is just fine. Day 2 was a negative racer's dream anyhow.

Anonymous said...

true

Anonymous said...

Joe, have you ever looked into doing TOKV as an omnium? You could charge per race and give a discount to those who sign up for the whole thing. This could maybe solve some of the problems associated with the stage race (cost, negative tactics in the road race) while still giving people the option to race 3x in a weekend and have an overall title to race for.

Anonymous said...

Going back to one day for TOKV is good. That crit course sucked, didn't anyone see all those trucks coming in and out?

What about the state TT? Is that going to be at Stony?

Anonymous said...

that crit wasnt that bad., wasnt any worse than cadiuex. with its turns around the curbs.

Anonymous said...

IM BATMAN

Anonymous said...

Day 2 was a negative racer's dream anyhow.
what was so negative?
PH had the numbers and defended the yellow, i guess the only- would of been the lack of attacks by the rest of the teams. everyone just rode around for 2 hrs. maybe if the race would of been longer the outcome coulda of different. who knows?

Anonymous said...

what's the point of wasting energy on attacking a team with 15 good riders ready to defend? oversized teams = negative racing.

Anonymous said...

did anyone look at PH by the end all were nearly spent, had it gone another 20-25 miles the out come may have been different.

Anonymous said...

kensington is still a great one day race. we'll all be there.

Anonymous said...

did anyone look at PH by the end all were nearly spent, had it gone another 20-25 miles the out come may have been different

Okay, that means they were really racing then. and either the other teams weren't, or they couldn't hang.

Anonymous said...

so any ideas on where the state crit will be if dexter is folding?

how the frick do we get to almost March and not have any real MI scene schedule? I mean like half the races are "tentative". Man it would be nice if someone would step up and get things organized around here.

Anonymous said...

probably the entire field last year at TOKV was dead tired otherwise, the results may have beeb different.
As far the schedule goes, I get this feeling the MBRA in whole is held together by all the hair on Paul Almans head, not blaming him. but the whole tenative schedule is a joke. come on the season has been over scince Labor Day, and we still dont have anything in stone except waterfords spring flings.

Anonymous said...

No Dexter? That sucks. That was a nice course.

Kensington is a GREAT one day race, not a stage race, I'll be there to race the one day RR.

Anonymous said...

No Dexter? if thats for sure, that bites. second hardest crit in MI gone. oh well maybe they can move it to runway plaza. its almost as good.

Anonymous said...

TMS you did it!

Anonymous said...

State TT, is it goin back to Stoney?

Anonymous said...

TMS you did it!

Anonymous said...

can we make it 70 about the stupidist shit around!

whaaaa.....i don't like this race or whaaaa its too dangerous of a course.....

Anonymous said...

yea, why not just keep adding to fuck head!

Anonymous said...

the Lusty Racheal Steele retires to pursue other intrests? who is this? I hear her name all the time.

Anonymous said...

Allright you whiners - If you want a race or a race schedule, step up and offer to help instead of bitching about "someone else" doing it. Just feel lucky that "someone else" does anything to hand you a bike race.

Anonymous said...

Batman!!! where is the jedi???? come back and save us!

Anonymous said...

To bad about Dexter, that is a great course hopefully we go back after construction. Rachel Steele races 'cross, and she better not retire, there won't be anymore eyecandy.

Anonymous said...

yea, OL MS STEELE was some eye candy, right up there with smarties, chuckles, and pop rocks!

Anonymous said...

Ms Steele closed her blog :(.

Anonymous said...

Pity. maybe she's not avalable, and no longer racing like the rumors.

Anonymous said...

She can't commit to racing. She is to busy dancing on tables.

Anonymous said...

SWEEET. where? MMM!

Anonymous said...

she's NOT that type of dancer, rather a coyote ugly type, she was doin her gig at the distilery.

Anonymous said...

gee I wonder why she closed her blog...

Anonymous said...

Rachel closed her blog because she teaches kindergarten and some parents were reading it.

Anonymous said...

that explains her being MIA.

Anonymous said...

Its obviouse she has found these comments, half of these are hers.

Anonymous said...

whatta abot the state TT, is still at Hines?

Anonymous said...

Lets mix it up a bit!

Paul Alman takin over the Mike Hanley position?

Please Paul has a hard time organizing the Michigan series, but what if Joe L. took over the Mike Hanley position, now that would be cool!

Anonymous said...

Joe takin it over, HELL YEA! that would be cool, hey Tms how about that rumor??
