SPRUNGOUT

Thats it, its over baby, for some its the end and for others just the begining, If mother nature kissed us last week she bitch slapped us this week. Flingers got a taste of what the crossers got at the end of last season. FRCC saw nearly the same weather that ended it for the mudders in DEC, small turnout but the weather made up for the dismal field, No surprise BIGRAY and DK took it, THE GIANT KILLER put his cold weather toughness to good use, and rode well. The B race saw Alan (my name always gets spelled wrong) Antosikc, he got the best of his rivals, Hank hill was getting a taste of the cold weather he likes soo much as well.
In other parts of the area, Sunday saw the start of our OTHERSCENE the MTB'ers got it on as sunday kicked off with the Tailwinds TT at Pontiac Lake in conditions reminiscent of the last year’s end of season cross race….cold, wind, snow, rain and MUD! In excellent Michigan form, top (and not so top) MTB racers were greeted with leg burning, power sucking, slippery-slimy, muddy trails, which were evident in laps times 4-5 mins slower than past years (or the long cold winter has kept too many off their bike, TMS thinks the later…). For those who decided to brave the wrath of Michigan Spring racing, Joey B posted the best time in the Elites followed by the “CLIKEMAN” and rounding out the podium with Dylan L – Mr A-Bike! There is no telling what these results mean for season predictions, as the conditions frightened off many that we re a NO SHOW for their preregistration call up .along with several new faces electing to join the PAIN GANG, and less notables deciding the PAIN was toooo much last year and moved down to beat up on the Expert riders for some personal gratification .Maybe Bloomer will paint a better picture, but the game is wide open with powerhouse SIMONSON racing in the SHOW and local favorites keeping hibernated for more hospital conditions….
Back on the skinny..Over on the A2 side...AAVC conditions were just as lousy The A race had The usuals in the MIX ROCKSTAR, BIGR and Dk look to be ready lay waste of all that try to take what they think should be there as they took everything the comp threw at em! VERY NICE!!
There you have it, with just one week left for spring supremacy, everyone is nice and warmed up.
If your not ready yet better sit back and get ready for the show.

What a Wolverine Weekend: Dybowski/Klein 1 & 2 on Sat, Dybowski/Finkel 1 & 2 on Sun. Back-to-back W's for Big Ray... but how about little Tony from South Lyon pulling a 3rd on Sat with the big boys. It wasn't a huge field, but what is he, 12?

BIGW's might be there year..might not time will tell. amd TONY W no he's not 12, he is post teen, all the smoking of the comp in the fall stunts yer growth.

The real season begins soon. By the way who won the points series last year? Don't remember? Neither does anybody else. There are very few that can win all season. Ray D has been doin it long enough he knows whats going on.

Anonymous said...

no dissin RAY D, but you dont see him winnin 1/2 races after April. no dis respect, just the facts.

MINI ME JAMES MEURIG won the overall. he was goin solid for a good part of the season. the series does mean something to a few. just like the spring flings mean something to select few.

I have no illusions of grander for myself. I just love to race. Maybe even out live the competition to win an age graded national title one day. I might get lucky like anyone else out there and place or maybe win a smaller 1/2 race. Heck, even a big, old guy like me can pull something out of my a$$ every now and then. But, your right, the odds are not in my favor when the young, bright talent that Michigan has to offer shows up in force and throws the slap down. I just hope there is more cold, rainy weekends and no one shows up so I can Win again. On the other hand, how many races did you place in or win last year?

Damn right Ray. In addition, how many people have come and gone from the scene and learned most everything they know about racing from you? A hell of a lot. This lesson is known as "respect your elders". Ray was doin' it before you, and will PROBABLY be doin' it LONG after.

Ray, your a class act, and should be a insperation to those that DO IT for the "right" reason. As the last post says sceners have come and gone.. very few guys like yourself and few select others out there whether its one aspect of bicycle racing or many avenues to stay with it cause its a PASSION simply put. as far as were concern if you win once in the year no matter what season its a win.Look at how many others NEVER NEVER get to savor a win .RIDE on BIGRAY RIDE ON.

Amen brother...... I can only hope that everyone gets there day in the sunshine. Know's what it's like to step on the pedals and know you made the move or see the back of the pack from the break off the front...man, I love it. I'm just honored to be able to stay up with the fastest guys, man is it fun to watch them ride from inside the Michigan Scene!!!

Hey you anonymous homos, Dybowski is the defending State Masters Road AND Criterium champion. How about a little respect for the "Godfather of Michigan Cycling" (attib: Tom Demerly at Iceman 2006... I have the video if anyone is interested).

I love these guys all filled up with sour grapes ready to cut the winners down every week.
If this, but that. Blah, blah, blah.
The guys winning races earned the wins. So Tom Boonen didn't show up this week at Waterford. Who cares.
A win is a win, all year long.

Congrats Ray.

"OTHERSCENE the MTBer's"

Others = MTBer's?
What's up with that TMS?
Are we not one big TMS family?

the MICHIGANSCENE said...

thats cute, we are all family, its just that some of the bastard children of the dirt, are a tad on the hissy side, but we still can claim em. and love em as or own siblings.

If you're going to talk smack about someone, at least man-up and not hide behind an anonymous login...

WTF!

Ray has done more for the Michigan Race scene than anyone I know... From, being a mentor for the Wolverine team or his work with the Velodrome...

Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass before you post BS

And he has been winning races for 20 years.....

oh! just the facts!

How about the other, otherscene, there has always been a BMX scene in Michigan but no one ever gives them much respect. Just take a look at how many 'cross racers have BMX backgrounds. Sven Nys comes to mind, or on the road you have McEwen.
