This is something thats been on TMS's mind for a long time, is it society, or just human nature to be insecure? Or does it come from the lack of something physical or materialistic, that makes some, heck if not most people insecure and hypocritical. We would have to say alittle of both. In 2 years that this has been up and runnin the influx of bad mouthin is surprising. OK we are at fault to some extent, by giving the anon posters a place thrive. and even some of our postings, but even without anon your still gonna get it, except they have to show there REAL name yea right. We love it Michigan has had some good races and race series, club involement not to mention group rides that challenge many lesser states races alone, and you always get people cutting it down in one way shape or form, lousy course, pro 1/2 dead, entry is too much, Negative racing, so and so didnt pull through, rank amatures etc.. I guess our big question, Who around here is pro material? you got a few but they dont do there thing here that often and when they do they act right. When it comes down to the bottom line, a upgrade, free team kit, carbon wheels, a sense of style and the poker face, and few measly results, all this while acting like a asshole in multiple ways doesn't make people respect you. This whole thing isnt a brotherly lovin, or you should be OK with whatever the outcome of the day is, emothions are normal but those that think there above the limit should think about themselves more in depth, (although we doubt there ego will let them) We'll bet there not collecting a check on sunday after they finish whatever the race/ride of the week. We pay for this shit, it takes time and commitment, yea we do it for fun or whatever our reasons for, but just because it doesnt fit in with your "reasons" dont muck it up, or cut it down for others, I think most sceners know (the intelligent ones at least) its not the world cup here, were not kidding ourselves, we dont think were IT, its our time to enjoy what we like best. those less fortunate should think about it next time you give the scowl of discontent. this is just TMS 2 cents

Early morning bloggin and ranting TMS STYLE

Lets be thankful for what we have. Improvements are always welcome but lets take a second to realize that this "Scene" we have here isn't too shabby. There's good promoters and great racers alike. Besides, we've got Joe to pump everyone up!

Personally, back in the day when I was a 2, on the way to a 1, after a full summer of fucking with all of the michigan guys while I was a full time bike bum, I made the move out of the state, went to AZ in the winter, to train my ass off. It meant sacrificing all of the Mich scene crits, etc, to get pummeled by top notch riders and improve. I think if Michigan retained every one of the talented riders the get the 2 or 1 upgrade, we would have 100 in the pro 1,2 fields, but we don't because when you start getting to that level, you want to test yourself against better riders. I remember my last race in michigan, in 2001. I did the AZ thing, raced in mexico and Guatamala in the winter, did the Cali races in March and April, Colorado for altitude in May, etc. I came home for a few weeks in July, worked at a friends restaurant part time. I did Major Taylor, rolled off the front 25miles in, formed a little break group, and just chilled and killed Koesel in the final to win. The bottom line is that everyone in MI should be happy the the Pro 1,2 field is smaller, because that means that the young up and comers are getting the hell out and testing themselves. Remember Bowman? He is kicking ass at a higher level. I remember Lapeer crit, he, weinert and I were gone from corner 1 to the finish...I couldn't hold his jock now, and that is a good thing.....

james, i remember watching that race and seeing you round the last corner just killing it for the rhino's. it was my first ever witness to a mi cat1/2 race and i was in awe.
I could not resist posting a comment. Since I was just called a FAG by an anon. Who I know has been on my wheel before and will be again soon. I have raced and road in other parts of the country with good locals to pro riders in Colorado. It is suprising how one can become depreciated or as it was explained in the sat. blog why we become insecure and discontent. Or just dont like someone for one reason or another. Cyclists even at this level work really hard and that alone should be respected. I was hit by a car and sustained a broken tibia in 2005, and came back to racing the following year which took a lot of rehab, work and pain. Im too miffed about the comment as I can talk smack as well. But what I am getting to is that like what was said in the blog that all that hardness is not respected. You can be a pro and be an asshole and all is for not. So be fast and be sweet. Shut your mouth and ride.
Hey, this is Joel Budacki speaking from CO. I am amazed by how many people in Mi. assume that they are Pro. or that Mi. is not challenging enough. If these a-holes wanna have some competition they should come out here and see if they are so bad ass. I wasn't all that fast in Mi. and now I see that I am really slow in the grand scheme of things. Must be the shit weather in Mi. or something.
I try to find logic in most things in life, but it defies me how this has turned into a "how tough are Michigan racers" argument. I'm with TMS, all the negativity bums me out.
