catchin up in and around your scene

For what its worth, Misceners were hittin it all weekend, with a score of strong riders headin North to da UP looks like its a good insight at who's gonna be on form and who's losin it or, well runnin on empty.
This weekend marks a crazy bunch of racing for some State Time Trial, Rockford crit, week long Masters road Nationals.

How about the state TT, Turnout will probably be light, Not the best course, or even the best weekend with the grueling Rockford on saturday, but heck, at least we still have it. unlike some the cancellation of events, its getting rather ominous.. TMS isnt throwin out any 5$ bets anyone but rollers are likely to be sceners . like THE BLACK ACE CARD, The all arounder Tom Burke, Greg powerman2007 Christain, and possibly DANNYK. and long shot ken VernierThe rest of the fields are open masters will probably go out to.(this is NOT a prediction!).the GODFATHER, and some misplaced 1/2ers. TT are so hard to tell who's comin outta of the woodwork. so were gettin go with less said is better.

ROCKFORD. only the tough need apply to this one, maybe that is why at press time, the pre reg list is thinner than half the masters fields scalps. As with years past no matter when its scheduled, the dose of pain is never less, WHEN are they going to make this the legit state championship race, (last years Dexter was close, heck if we keep losin races Runway plaza may seem like a great filler.) No matter what, this one is gonna send many into the HURT LOCKER for a hour or so. The 1/2 race is gonna be a great show with riders comin into form for masters nationals. On the women's side its gonna another battle between HEALTH CHIX and the BISSEL BROADS.

Whatta about the rest? Doug Gatto has set himself up for a big goal and thats a top 3. and Joe L takin no prisoners in the 3's Masters is gonna be C R A Z Y. wonder if the lil Pony is gonna show? Before Tms gets to in depth, last go again with less said.

In the words of GIRLSCHOOL,

lets go!

Allen Park...Carny Mutants, Nazi Beats, Iron Men, and a Jackass

2008 edition of the infamous Allen Park crit, if the old addage is true they save the best for last, we may have seen the last of crits at ap as we know it. with the exception of a few key notes, were going to let the results speak for themselves.

Only 19 of the 60+ riders in the 1/2 field completed the entire 90 minutes

Many riders doubled or tripled there races, hats off to guys like,, RICOSER, Godfather,Bruce, Foshag and DOCSAVAGE, few made the 1/2 cut and placed well in other events.

For many the weekend proved to be costly as there were grumbling of broken wheels due to the rough coure.

Cat 3 saw a nasty crash that put down Miscene favorite LUPE MARTINEZ from leadout racing.

John Zaccone nearly stealing a upset in the 1/2 race riding a FELT cross bike UGH!

PH chicks setting Kristy Keeley up for a great lead out.

Ben Renkma has got a killer MULLET.

the So CALLED WHO CARES IM FLYIN AWARD should go out to non other than TIM ROCKSTAR FINKEL even after partying all night he still rode HYPERSPASTIC in the 1/2 and honched in the break, and nearly made TOP 10

Saturn of Toledo's Chris Brinkman winning the Cat 3 race as well as the 16-18.

west coast weekend

AH. the Michigan state road championship, Kinda like TV ,Never without a lil excitement and drama, throw in touch of danger and maybe Little skin, loss or shown (show is up to tms) all of this done by either by mother nature, promoters, or sceners, it wouldnt be the the state roads without it, thats why like it sooo much..
The setting a balmy but threatening west Michigan morning all groups had a long day in the Selle ahead of them (GEE who's responsible for the length in events this year? ) The show got underway a tad late, but hey its the State Roads right? seems the west Michigan road commission is getting used to chip seal quite nicely thank you.

First program with a report went off at 10:30 due to a communication break down.

Elite MEN 1/2, with a pro in the field? don't ask don't know? the report TMS got was the race was like a rubiks cube many combinations with only one solution, big breaks would form get pulled back, what TMS would like to know, how? every team had 6-8 guys in the 50+ field. with the exception of a few solo's. Nearing the half way point the cube puzzle was getting solved and legs got tired and the winning side was off and running with another side comin behind and the field rollin around. The stage was set for a great finish until Mother Nature stepped and put a stop to all the fun callin the game off 1 lap early. In the end it was the crafty 40 somethin veteran Jim Bruce taking a surprise win for Lathrup, and the Always tough all arounder Tom Burke of the home team 2nd .Not far back is a kid who has been postin wins for many years Zach Mcbride. Oh and then its rained real hard!
program report 2,
Cat 3. Yup they got to ride longer this year as well, another Bissell recruit Jimi MINNEME took Alan Antonichis to the line after 70+ miles and got the win. both of these guys should be commended as it was no easy day specially Anonsick, ridin solo for Edge of trail cyclery . nice job..Lupe Martinez from Leadout racing got 4th and 1st in the cool kit award. Calcareous upstart Roger THE BOWSER also top 10tend.
Cat 4 . wheres JB Hancock at ? Tms figured he would of followed up the state Cross title with road title, go figure.? Old school MTB guy John Wunderlend fueled by LIL Cesars pizza rolled in for 4th, EYE GATTO was spotted but didnt meet tms expectation . our buddy Gordy Fitnch from the Haggerty crew cracked the top 10. That Haggerty crew is on this year.
Masters 35+ the field was treated to the TINKER and PONY show as the 2 old school miscene MTB legends battled it out, masters field depth may not be as deep as the 1/2 but there not lackin SOME horse power. Odds of the pony makin the break were in his favor as nearly half the field were wearin his colors. seems the mans plan is on target for fall. But missing the win be mere dreadlocks against TINKER shouldn't upset him, as Tinker has been ragin scince kenssington. Its a shame these two are waisting the there power supply in the masters field(not saying its a waste,BUT, U-NO) they are easily 1/2 material.
Masters 45+ A break of 3 riders got away and put some solid time in the field. FRCC unknown to TMS book won this, beating out Haggerty trio of Long time scener craig webb, Hofstra, HAL BIEVER. last years state champion Scot CLAWS had to settle for 6th
Elite women. BISSEL had this one, although PHCHIX couldnt be out numbered, Sara Mguire won the field sprint over Taraizer of Giant MI. and Haggerty gal Susan Vigland.

Race notes of the weekend and standouts in the eye of the SCENE:

Wolverine youngins Bogedine, and Durbish ridin well in the move.

what was with the... THERES a pro in the 1/2 race, he's not allowed to contest, or lead a break or bridge to the break? Is there a rule concerning this?
Leadout racing kit, fresh
oldest helmet award. TIE..Brett Robinson's, and Eric phreeds lid. whew
thanks west coast

track time

Whats happening at Bloomer?

We now have some record times for individual events at the Velodrome @ Bloomer Park. The bar has been set, now let's try to better the record times! Riders had a great time at the first velodrome records day and are asking for another day of timed events so stay tuned! Below are the Velodrome @ Bloomer Park track records since 5/31/08. If you have never ridden on a Velodrome, get out to the Velodrome @ Bloomer Park for instructions, there are bikes to use and a staff to use and a great staff to get you going. The learning curve is quick and the short individual Time Trails are the perfect place to start on the track to test your fitness.
