Lower huron report?
my 2 cents, Im not a expert nor do i want to start my own race series.
But didnt someone post something on here about 5 weeks back about michigancross will be nothing more or nothing less in the future?
What happens when things dont evolve?
The road racing has shown progress, to new venues, new races some added, removed etc. Its evolving and doing fine.
Mtb racing has seen a downturn overall but, in Michigan with the exception of a few key events has stayed the same, its gone through a pretty tough time and was nearly sent to the grave, look at the fun promtion events, the classes are all combined and still thin. The MMBA race scene is what its gonna be.
The tailwind mtb races have become what there cross racing will be.
Oh sure there are different factors to why the Cross scene is thin, its HARD, the weather plays a big part, as do many other issues. But honestly 9 riders in the Elite field at lower Huron, and really only about 3 or 4 SOLID podium contenders. Its sad. It not only hurts the promoter but the level of competition to. How do you think Mike Wissink got so fast? racing guys like Weinert, Card, Foshag, and among others for the past 8 yrs. What will happen to the riders coming into the scene? With fewer guys like the above. One can only hope half the B field and a good chunk of the 35+ set, up there game to fill the void next season left by those that are not showing up.
I dont want this to look like a tailwind bashing post, because i think the races are run well, everything from chip timing to the announcer, I just have to hand it to Joe L, JB Hancock, and even the Kisscrossers for wanting to mix it up.
Its easy for me to sit here and punch out my ANON take on the whole show. I know! but there has got to be some reason why were seeing a thinning of the herd here in Michigan with cross when its flourishing elswhere.
I am staying optomistic that it will get better in the future, hopefully it doesnt take too long.

PEACE!

For MTB, the one off events are growing, where as the series events are shrinking. A promotor can put more effort into one kik ass event, rather than a series of mediocre events. Its the trend and we see it with races like LJ100, O2S, P2P, and Iceman... even Barry Roubaix. I think its awesome! In the end you end up with several promotors, who can each devote the time to running a killer event, rather than one promotor dominating with their series. I think the scene is evolving and the one off events are getting better and better.

YES! I agree with the above post.

That's why WORS has seen such great success.

Maybe some of the sandbagers in the b's and Masters should move up and race elite. But the sandbager won't because they can't win, so they stay where it is safe. Nine riders at Lower Huron that's a crime. Move up and get stronger.
I would like to here from Mr. T on this.
