Just spit coffee on my monitor reading how the medics couldn't find Kevin Collins and his black kit because he blended into the pavement... Oh T... You're the only one that could say that.

good all around.

who is the bunny?

Anonymous said...

extremely ugly: the promotor violating USAC rules and deciding to cut the pay in the 1/2 men's and women's races by 50% without saying anything...

Anonymous said...

dudes with aero bars?. was i and T the only ones that caught that, cool course, too much hype, skewed results. cut pay over priced day of entry. But thats OK its Birmingham its all about the atmosphere.
thats, a WTF extreme Ugly.

Rudy P and that Rainville kid riding away from the also rans. sweet.

Race flyer said that the promoter reserves the right to adjust prize lists depending upon turnout. So you can't say there was no warning. They should do that for all women's racing in Michigan. The turnout is almost always pathetic. It's like the Special Olympics - everybody's a winner, just show up and get paid. Racing shouldn't be like that. I know a lot of guys are sick of subsidizing women's racing. Despite what some of them say, Womens 1/2 is not even close to being equal to mens 1/2. Heck, they're not even equal to mens cat 4.

Anonymous said...

Every race gives that stupid warning about cutting payout. The difference in this case is they did it and didn't have the balls to tell anyone, or list the minimum number. They better have taken that money to fix all the shitty spots of pavement. $45 to enter prereg and then you deal with poor pavement and the fact the promoter cuts payout and didn't follow the rules and admit it. 1 and done.

Anonymous said...

yea, i would have to agree. The entry was befitting to the posh atmosphere of Birmingham.
im proud to be a Hick.

Anonymous said...

Greg Christian. That is all.

Anonymous said...

WTF

Anonymous said...

You should have gone to the Ace's race in Sylvania. He had the biggest payout in years, sub $35 pre-reg fee and didn't cut the men's purse. Heck, he even paid the pathetic women's field.

I hope it goes again next year.

+1 Sylvania

+1 Sylvania, I agree too bad most 'scener" shy ed clear

Im sorry, 'subsidizing' womens racing?!? Last time I checked our payouts equal a quarter of the mens, this race included. Thats what our payout was cut to; a quarter of what was advertised. I paid an obscene amount of money for that race as well. And Im quite certain that Mackenzie, Amy Stauffer and Christy Keely would happily hand every single men's cat 3 their ass on a silver platter. And thanks for your dickhead attitude; it makes trying to get women racers out here that much easier. You may not have noticed but we've doubled our fields in less than 3 years. Not an easy task when we have to deal with A-Holes like you. Keep your nose in your own business-sucking it up in the mens cat 4 for the past 5 years.

Anonymous said...

yea... no disrespect, but those girls wouldn't do shit in the mens cat 3 race on a regular basis. The point is, when everyone in the race is virtually getting paid something isn't right. I'm not saying taking any money away and giving it to another class that "deserves it more" but if i were running the race I’d pay a lot fewer positions in the womens field and actually pay the majority of the money to the top few women who deserve it and not the pack fill and girls who are always at the back and can just show up and get paid.

Anonymous said...

agreed. equal pay for men & women in the top spots & pay the men much deeper because they have the #'s. we women will never have the #'s the men have but if promoters cut the purse for those top few it will only hurt the situation and frankly, it's not fair. bigger purses can entice people to do a race just as smaller purses may make them stay home. i'm pretty sure this goes for men & for women. Our bikes cost the same, our gas, our entry fees, our hotels, etc. We want to earn some of that back if we can on race day just like the dudes want to. equal pay & pay the men deeper. it's a touchy subject for sure & that's the only fair answer that i can see.

thanks tms for allowing everyone to air there true opinions.
Hatred or not it is constructive.

HEY MBRA, and promoters take note..

Screw the Cat I/II's and screw the womens fields - you know who supports this sport? The Masters Mens fields. Shit over 1/2 the Cat I/II's fields are guys over 40.

And screw the 20sometingyr old Cat I/II's complaining about payouts. Only on a VERY good day do those guys ever beat guys like Peterson, shit - even 60 yr old Gilboe gives guys like Antonuck (never won anything) and Stange a run for their money.

You will rarely hear those masters guys say anything negative, but you'll hear the 20-some-tin Cat I/II's complain, complain, complain.

Earn it first biotches!

Anonymous said...

oh come on. If you mean that "Peterson" kid. he hasnt won anything but a spring fling. in my opinion that kid needs to learn how to ride a bike and come back to the 1/2 field, along with about 20 or so others that got the "HOMIE" cat 2 hook up. Old fart masters included, stop diluting the group by being able to call your self a PRO 1/2. Good GOD!

Im not old and I have won a race or two. HATIN and liking it.

Womans racing is strong in parts of this country. The racing is fast and exciting. Michigan has proven to be a crap shoot. $8000 at GR and 26 women. You have to pay 1 place for every $100. Cut the payout to 3 places and it's a problem, throw more money and all get paid.

Entry fees: $80 at the National's, no prize money. $40 / $1000 at GR, 80 riders. $45 preregistration at Birmingham 43 riders. Promoting is as much of a gamble as paying your entry and trying for a top spot.

Suggestions......

Hey anon 3:33-
You may have won a race or two, but slow your bad ass self down and work on reading comprehension. The Peterson anon 2:43 was referring to was Houston, he is that Peterson kids dad. You see, anon 2:43 was talking about masters racers, not juniors, so he was obviously refering to the elder of the two.

You may have a point about the kid and his abilities and his upgrade, but the way i see it is he is finishing most of these races. And so are a lot of the old dudes who are "dilluting " your races. So whats the problem? Are these 16 year olds and 40+ old dudes taking your prize money?Do you just want to boot them all out so there is more cash available for you?

Anonymous said...

Doubled your field in 3 years. From 6 to 12 is adding 2 riders a year. Great job.

Anonymous said...

Houston. yea...that guy, he isn't much better than his kid when it comes to handling skills..

so suck me!

Anonymous said...

funny how, "finishing most of these races" makes you a bad ass. With no disrespect because she is dam fast, a chick was leading the field in the 1/2 race at Gaslight with 3 to go. Hmm?

Anonymous said...

DOPAGE!

Anonymous said...

You will not survive the night. It is not a flashlight that I wield. Perhaps you did not know that.

Anonymous said...

So suck me!

Yep, that does sound like a 20 something cat 1/2 complaining. You 20 year old bike shop mechanics are freaking hilarious.
"Rudy, I mean Houston, and all of the other old dudes got hooked up and didn't earn their upgrade like I did. I know for a fact that back in the day their wasn't any competition. They didn't have to race against the deep 40 person fields like I do."

Get your facts straight son. These old dudes are hanging on your weak races with 6 hours of training a week and working 40+ hours. Do yourself a favor and ask some of these old dudes about field size and the competition back in the day.

Anonymous said...

yeah if most of those old dudes could ride more than 6 hours a week they would roast your 20 yr old , 20 hour a week training ass. cause they know how to race bikes.

as for the payout argument just pay all the purse to a % of the field. Like 25%. If 40 guys show up, 10 get paid. If 12 women show up, 3 get paid. distribute the purse accordingly.

Paying everyone who buys a number is like communism or some shit.

Anonymous said...

field size and the competition back in the day.

WHAT A LAME COMMENT.

BITD,

dont count on it being HARDER back then.

I would love to see a race that is a winner take all, 1st place gets it and everyone else can go back to there false beings. Id be willing to bet the turnout would be lower than your LT wattage. I could name the guys that would pin it on, most don't even call "Michigan" there scene.

go and pretend.

Anonymous said...

If the comment was so lame then why did you chime in? Don't you think that the dudes who did it back then and are still doing it now have some perspective? And with that point, when they tell you it was harder back then what knowledge do you have to prove it not to be? It's tough testosterone talk to banter on about winner take all, but its just talk. It wouldnt make racing harder. It would just be a stupid stunt. And yes, my LT is low. Always has been and always will be. But that doesn't prevent me from finishing these "epic" hard man races that you speak of.

Anonymous said...

"Mackenzie, Amy Stauffer and Christy Keely would happily hand every single men's cat 3 their ass on a silver platter."

Talk is cheap. Bring it. Nothing is stopping them from entering the men's cat3 race (except for no guaranteed payout). Want to see good women's racing? Go to Superweek or USA Crits Series. Huge, fast fields - and no MIScene regulars bother to race outside the comfy world of easy Michigan money.

Anonymous said...

Oh shit. When did the MMBA board get relocated.

Anonymous said...

Manderfield had learned to ride with the best. 3 WSC women became World Champions 5 times. Get on the track, learn to race. Come back when your a somebody.

Anonymous said...

And that's world champions, different then Waterford world champs, were Manderfield ride like a training ride.

Anonymous said...

im not the guy your killing, but i didnt read anything about, "epic" hard man races that you speak of.
I like the idea of winner take all? who are you anyway? to call it a stunt? A stunt would be a finishing stretch strewn with roofing nails and a ramp like at the Frankenmuth finish .
And I agree KC would hand most all average 1/2/3 dudes here there but, she finished top 15 a few times back in 05-06? and I hear it was harder back then.
MMBA too funny too right!

I keep hearing it was a lot harder BITD. you didn't have.
Bissel
RGF
Panther
Priority Health
Louis Garneau along with a assortment of other 1 and 2's from other teams to slow everyone down

Anonymous said...

Every era has its champions. Just remember the average speed of a race today is not much differant than 20 years ago. And if all the teams you just named are fast why aren't they in the pro tour?

Anonymous said...

If you want to be good you may want to set your sights higher..........

Anonymous said...

RGF? They're fast? Maybe that Jim Balls is but the others...?

Like the guy taking everyone out at Bham?

Anonymous said...

And if all the teams you just named are fast why aren't they in the pro tour?
never said they were Gods of War, but there's no denying they are a tad stronger as a "team" than most around the scene.
honestly this is a useless big dick pissing match.

i do agree about that.
