lot's of cat. 3's in the 1-2 race these days

yea upgrades are free. just dont cross the center line

t, I agree with one of the above posts. Some of the 1/2's are brutal. Dudes can't corner to save their lives and they constantly leave gaps. Quit leaving gaps you knobs. It's not pro. It's stupid. And maybe try picking up the pace. I have it on good info that one of the masters races was faster than yours.

Step up your game.

says the guy who sat in both race.

I guess 5:58 can't corner.

at a 3hrs a week training program the big wheel race woulda probably been brutal.

STFU.

Glad to see the definition of a hard race is based on how much sucking wheels hurt you. I think a guy soloed off the front near the end, I assume this was you because the race was so easy.

lmao. so true

-5:58 dude

Why don't you let us all know what you think makes a race hard.

I think when you are doing he training, rolling well and able to hand people their asses, the racing is easy. When you are a "Pack-Fill-Masters" and not training enough and rolling poorly and getting your ass handed to you, then the racing is hard. Props to him for showing up and pinning up with probably very little training time. And to correct you, there was no one who soloed off the front in the masters race. It came down to a field sprint.

I know that it's our job to "boost" the Scene and pretend that Mi racing is hard, which I'm all about. But to be honest, the only hard race last weekend was Elite Nationals. Just saying because based on an earlier post, the final hour of four (30 mph average, 1,600+ ft of climbing) was way more difficult than all of Festival of the Sun racing put together. Still just sayin'.

thats cool n all 2:37, but i missed the part were us sceners think Miscene is hard, we, I just like to race my bike..and to travel 4 states away to get MY ASS handed to me doesn't sound appealing when i can get the same type of a beating as close as 3 short hrs. I have no problem knowing your harder than I..but lets face it an ass beating is a ass beating no matter how much time, money and effort it takes.

just sayin

If I read the results right -- sceners did pretty well at Nats. These are the same guys who hand out (and sometimes are handed) beating at races in Michigan. I'd say the scene is tuff enuff.

To quote: " And to correct you, there was no one who soloed off the front in the masters race. It came down to a field sprint."

There was a certain dude (they call him " the Master") who did a hard solo off the front in 35 with about 10 min to go, but got caught with 1 or 2 lap to go. So yes, and no. Made for an easy last lap for us sprinters, but not easy to catch.

Thas racin'...

Are you shitting me? A bunch of guys trying to talk about which race was harder. Dear masters racers, race the 1/2 race and win it then talk about how slow it was. Stop telling people how shitty they should feel about winning a 1/2 race in Michigan. Guess what, they beat you. How shitty does that make you? Wait they didn't beat you, because you didn't show up? Yeah then keep running your mouth. At least your mother loves you. Oh and I hear the hard race wasn't this weekend at all it starts this coming Saturday across the pond.

1/2 in Michigan is for chumps. hard men travel cuz they win here everyweekend.

hardly true my friend

Anonymous said...

lets make it simple,
If you don't go to Iowa,Elite nats or any race out side of Michigan, you simply don't rate and earn no respect from those hard men that travel around in search of the inevitable hard stuff.

Anonymous said...

Festival of the Sun was probably one of the slowest avg speeds for the year. Yes there is a wide range of talent in the field. But at least guys are willing to suffer and get beat, I see a lot of trophy hunting in the 35plus. I get that Michigan is not the top, but coming on here talking how great you are and how easy it was when all you did is wheel suck is silly. plain and simple. Silly. You guys chased one guy, wow that must have been tough, didnt see you chasing or attempting to get on the 5 man break in the 1/2. The TRUTH is in a masters race you can burn all your matches because you can recover anytime you need to. The 1/2 race is different, at any time, you could be dropped if not paying attention or burned one too many.
-No wonder the sport lacks youth and development with all the hating, whens the last time you rode with some 3/4s and talked to them. Instead of ripping them, go talk to guys and give them advice. None of us our pros, so drop your ego down from one.

Roadies are real hard men, lest you forget that you are rolling in Lycra with shaved legs. Not the stuff the most interesting man alive cares about or respects...

Anonymous said...

i just noticed that T is crying. hard man?

Anonymous said...

real men cry
don't be dissin on T for showing real emotions.

There are a lot of riders that win races in MI that deserve respect for the way they ride. Some of them race out of state and some of them don't. The fact of the matter is it is all a crap shoot and every race is tough. I also doubt that the guys that are truly shaping the races at the 1/2 level and travel are naive enough to think that they can act like they are above everyone that races in state. I sincerely hope it is a bunch of angry has beens grumping about the good old days rather than riders I respect and enjoy competing against slandering their fellow cyclists.

Anonymous said...

thats solid. the attitude runs so rampant in our scene it makes my stomach turn, i aint hatin just sick of the crap of about 19 or so useless weekend warriors babbling about how it was and how it was played back in the day.

hate on me all you want.

Anonymous said...

WORD-I agree with you, the road scene is so rife with attitude it's comical. No wonder I see more and more former roadies on cyclocross bikes on dirt roads training instead of riding/racing road bikes.
