It's usually on the account of me trying to half-ass some 1X setup and the chain derails itself... although my best opportunity for a "tailwin" was at Kensington in 2006 I believe. I have the story written in my training log. I was riding the runup each lap and the ACE was running... I was getting a gap when SNAP! I broke the chain. I threw it in the garbage can, got in the car, and drove home frustrated and pissed. A week later I won the Iceman and the Tigers lost the World Series.
