fuck masters racing.
A bunch of old men convinced that there is still some sort of value in winning the Michigan 45-55 Masters Crit. No, there isn’t, you are old, stop kidding yourself and give up. Your ultra-light carbon bike with matching zipp carbon bull shit looks just as stupid as your beer gut. Stop pissing your money away on stupid shit, and try to actually race again. Oh, and riding 220km every weekend didn’t make you fast 20 years ago, and it won’t make you fast now. Give up, or try to do something less stupid on your bike, like loose weight.

 Fuck juniors.
Yeah, the children. Put them at 8am every race, and patronize the hell out of them. Give them a pair of socks for winning a crit. Or better yet, nothing. They are too young to matter anyway. Sounds like this one is already done for me.

 Fuck Cat 5  through 3.
Yeah, because getting 3rd at that one crit totally means you need a P.R.O deal on a bike and race fees. You are an idiot who is inflating everything about the cycling industry to the point where no one new wants to join. Why do bikes cost so much, because you fucking rob companies and LBS or any profit. Give your “team” bike back, and quit telling your “friends” that you race bikes at a “semi-pro level”. You are the epitome of an amateur, and it is about fucking time you realize it.

 Cat 2 and 1.
Where the fuck did that ego come from. Yeah that family of 3 that actually watched your sprint finish were impressed. But they will forget about you faster than all of the friends you have abandoned to pursue your “career” in cycling. The only thing that differentiates you from Cat 3 is nothing. It is all in your head, just like most of the life you lead right now. And you are too old to ever make it anywhere in cycling.

 Domestic Pro.
Once again with the attitude. You travel around the US to ride a bicycle in a circle. Just think about that, and wonder what gives your life meaning. Maybe you should get a twitter like Adam Myerson, and bitch all day long.

International Pro. Cycling is fucking stupid anyway.

Flat faced truth, never seen so many posers in 1 scene as the michscene....Reality check to all those that read this, in the grand scheme of things you are all slow, so drop the "pro" attitude.

Bike shop mark ups are obscene.

I guess we should all sell our shit and start playing golf.

@8:15

Do you really think it is just the miscene?! Have you ever races out of state? IT IS EVERY SCENE!!

Also... Maybe if the CAT1/2 guys wouldn't act like D-bags and maybe encouraged the lower CATs a bit, then the scene could grow.

Anonymous said...

na wewould suck at that too..but at least we can drink and beer at the same time, and talk about how we drove the break back in the day at Waterford.

I'm a masters racer in the miscene (not a fat ass though) and I do not take bike racing seriously at all. I do it 100% for fun & fitness, as do most. We all know the d-bags that care too much. I wouldn't tar and feather the whole scene though.

Anonymous said...

I agree, but it is a close assumption of the scene in general.
hell I am probably as guilty as the rest.

i thought you were done with TMS Adooooooom? Come back to take another beating? Maybe you wont cry this time.

This is teh most accurate post TMS has done in the long, asinine history of cycling in MI.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU NEEDS TO GROW UP AND REALIZE YOU ARE RIDING IN A FUCKING CIRCLE, IT"S A FUCKING HOBBY, AND YOU ARE WASTING YOUR FUCKING MISERABLE LIVES ACTING LIKE YOU WILL ALL GET PAID ONE DAY TO DO THE CIRCLE FASTER THAN THE HAMSTER NEXT TO YOU.

Also, every scene is just like the michscene. Speaks worlds of how its human nature to wave our dicks around and measure them. Every. GOddamned. FUcking. Weekend. It's not gonna be any bigger next weekend, so put it away. Or better yet go fuck something worth fucking for once.

Adam said...

Anon, weak. So weak. Weaker than my sprint, weaker than my contract, weaker than my interpersonal relationship skills, weaker than my results. At best your stance is trite and contrived. Don't worry, I'll give you a hug.

Adam said...

I'm not sure the idea was to make me feel better, but rather to point out the obvious: anon is shit and so is hateful speech lacking a direction. Again, hate, but have a point. Btw only my mom calls me that...but you knew that silly.

what's with TMS censoring comments?

Anonymous said...

It's because Adam has weight in TMS. He's either TMS or he's got a big finger in that pie.

I enjoyed watching Cancellara win Sunday. And he won in hell.

Bunny. I'll say it. Nice to have you back. I thought that you rode yourself into the ground last season and have been hanging with the Reaper. Oh, wait, you did ride yourself into the ground last season and have been hanging with the Reaper. None the less...welcome back.

Anonymous said...

you are only welcoming to him becuase you don't know what he did or what he's capable. The Reaper is himself.

Anonymous said...

Agree about Weinert that guy needs to get over himself.

Anonymous said...

So, TMS will not require posters to id themselves, but will censor comments? Seems chickenshit to me.

Anonymous said...

Not certain, but it's very possible that 10:18 AM and 1:48 PM are just a little bit jealous of the Pony. I can't quite figure their hang up as no one else really gives about the Pony...including himself. And please don't tell me it's because he rides a bike faster than you. That would be sad.

Anonymous said...

Weinert is a tool. I Have thought that for years.

Adam said...

All this anon shit talking is pretty weak. You do realize the internet isn't just a bathroom wall, right?

Anonymous said...

truth means rejecting the lies that ppl have convinced themselves to believe so they can get w/e it is they want for themselves

me being truthful w/ them is like me shitting on their will to live, it’s basically a war that never ends

is it my fault for being bold enough to see things for what they naturally & realistiacally are or they wrong for being so selfish & ignorant for refusing to see or believe anything beyond them & what they want

Adam said...

I can't differentiate any anonymous commenter. All the same drivel...because it's penned under the same name "Anonymous".

Anonymous said...

again that's what ppl do
they only can only see you from their pov of everything

a shitty life to one person can be paradise to another & vice versa

Anonymous said...

ignorance is nothing more than ignoring your own selfish motives in order to achieve w/e it is you want for yourself

Anonymous said...

Anon allows people to speak there minds and what they believe is the truth without the repercussions of doing so by the very people you speak these truths about.

Unknown said...

The most accurate reply to this post is pot calling kettle black. I find the haters who are trying to knock us for enjoying ourselves and the joy of competing must be worried about something. I can make assumptions but lets start with the obvious. Haters are jealous, they run around talking about how great they are, but when the scene is talking about someone else. Haters try to take the pedestal and go home.

Anonymous said...

amen

Anonymous said...

Rapers n dopers oh boy!

Anonymous said...

Adamn, the fact that you can't differentiate between anonymous postera is the point of anonymous posting. What doesn't make sense is the comment censoring.

I'm not a pot nor a kettle and I still think y'all are a bunch of self-entitled, ego stroking assholes. It's not just the MIscene either. It's every male-dominated sausage-fest of a a cycling scene.

Being known as rapists and dopers isn't a flattering assessment, but it appears to be sadly accurate.

Anonymous said...

more like cry babies. fuck its bike racing NO ONE is getting paid to do this shit and none of you including me is any good.
lighten the fuck up.

Unknown said...

Then why race if your no good, why even ride. It's human nature to compete and feel good about yourself when you do well. I think we are pretty damn awesome. Haters weren't haters until they were exposed as the bad apples. Now you got to make us all feel like you. I hope every cat 4 with a bike deal pisses you off. But guess what, someone choose to give them that deal. They deserve to feel good.

Anonymous said...

Rob, I understand
i didnt write this post, but to be fair the ego's that associated with a lot of these guys suck major balls. Not being any good is irrelevant. cuz in the scope of the whole cycling world walking around with a big cocky attitude because you just won 30$ is kinda lame. i like bike racing, i like Michigan, i like the courses. but that doesn't mean i have to like everyone that does it. not hatin just my 2 cnets.

Anonymous said...

Oh an to be fair NO one deserves a deal around here. Do you think guys buy bikes because joe, so n so just won the cat 1/2 race or A at Waterford? most of these guys with the hook up DONT DO SHIT for it or to help sell it, bother than take it. doesn't piss me off at all. I don't work in the industry.

Adam said...

Anonymity removes context and credibility. It also strips away any idea of a 'stateful' conversation. This greatly diminishes the value of making more than one comment since all comments are equally unidentifiable. Which makes me wonder why you respond. So then the question must be asked. If all comments are equally anonymous, what's it matter if a comment removed? It'd be like storming into the maintenance office and demanding to know why your bathroom wall graffiti was removed over. After all your libelous opinion scratched into the bathroom wall was totally valid. Right? Oh and I feel compelled to mention that there is no such thing as true anonymity. So don't go too crazy.

Anonymous said...

I agree, I like riding n racing, but I definitely
stay away from the scene, too much testosterone
for me.

Anonymous said...

Oh RAPAGE!

Anonymous said...

amen.

NONE of the teams, at least in our scene sell any bikes for there hook ups.

Anonymous said...

“At least do acid once. Once you’re old enough to be able to sit by yourself.”

Unknown said...

Do any of you talk to 3-4-5s? Because as i upgraded, the first time any 1-2 or talked to me was when i did well as a 1-2. Yes there are a few bad apples, but most those guys are pretty cool . Plus they sell more bikes than the haters do. Life is short, have fun, don't take yourself to serious. The haters are easy to spot in the field, Anonymous suits them well. They all share the huge ego why not share the same name.

Anonymous said...

ok

Anonymous said...

Rob,
i agree with the other anon post, i worked at a shop, sponsored numerous teams, good guys and solid racers. many many years went by we did everything we could. And to be honest we never had anyone come in and say they were buying this bike because i just say this guy win on one last weekend. And never did the riders, who were honest to goodness good people help the shop out, even though it was required, Most are so busy, riding, living life, working being dads, husbands etc. to do there part. Im not saying all "pro deals are bad. But your wrong if you think amateur racing sells tons of bikes for the LBS. and contrary to popular opinion the guys working at these shop dont make buckets of cash. its labor of love for most.

Unknown said...

Hater wrong about the selling of bikes. Easily sold a dozen bikes for my sponsor. Hater should think less about stealing the pedestal, use less blog time and take an online course on marketability. Do you know the bread and butter to the bike world is $500 customer? So next time one of your non race friends asks a bike question, oh wait hater doesn't have friends outside of his anonymous buds.

Anonymous said...

who's your sponsor?

Anonymous said...

Rob,
I agree sorta but it depends on the Territory.

Anonymous said...

ask a Wolverine on how much he makes selling an old "team Bike"

Anonymous said...

Rob, just curious why do you refer to someone as a "hater" just because they state there opinion?

Anonymous said...

Due to a Potentially Erect Penis

the MICHIGANSCENE said...

doesn't matter anon or legit.
its the internet. don't like it....
you have the option

Anonymous said...

It's not hate, it's truth. There is a difference.

Anonymous said...

Rob
prove me wrong.

Anonymous said...

Opinion and not truth... There are no absolutes. People make quite a few assumptions about what is "truth". The term young and dumb comes to mind.

Like someone else said... bread and butter at a bike shop is the $500 bike not racers. Most guys around here don't get "free" bikes, but just a large discount which doesn't really "cost" the bike shop outside of some time and some mark up the bike a bit to cover that.

People also need to consider that racers are brand marketing and that when people see guys riding (Training) with a team kit, they see the shop name and seek out that shop when looking for bikes.

Anonymous said...

The scene has its very own Vanilla Ice.

Anonymous said...

8:22 AM
i beg to differ. i work at a shop " a large discount which doesn't really "cost" the bike shop outside of some time and some mark up the bike a bit to cover that" there is also the time spent dealing with the sometimes needy riders when the staff has other profitable jobs to be done.
there exceptions to the rule i have people that get discounts. There good people spend money in the shop and bring other "bread and Butter customers in the store. as far as.

"brand marketing and that when people see guys riding (Training) with a team kit, they see the shop name and seek out that shop when looking for bikes

maybe in certain area's but being that most bread and butter customers find it ludicrous to pay 5k for a bicycle i find that somewhat skewed. Don't get me wrong i am by no means saying sponsorship is bad. But the small percentage is questionable. Ask your local Specialized S-works dealer how many S-works bikes were sold at full retail. less than 1% most of those 8K bikes go pro deal to shop guys or teams. making the small margin even smaller.

you can argue it all you want but until you live it
its hard fought battle.

Anonymous said...

8:27 AM
oh thats funny!!

Anonymous said...

9:12 AM

I realize what it takes to run a small business, as I have done it and will never again.

The other side of the coin is that with out a team and moving bikes at a "Pro" deal to said team members, you wouldn't be an S-works dealer due to the amount of yearly volume of S-Works bikes and components you need to carry/sell.

Also... no one is saying that you need to sell the bikes to your team and not make a profit?! You also don't need to let every Tom, Dick or Harry that rides a bike on your team!

Bike shops are enabling the "PRO" deal to amateurs... If it is not profitable for them (Marketing or liquid) or make sense in their business plan, then they should stop. It should be written in racers contracts that they take a back seat to customers and need to plan a bit better. It's call management and communication...

Anonymous said...

I would agree, good point.

Anonymous said...

number one rule of leadership
everything is your fault

Unknown said...

Having worked in a bike shop in my younger years, I put some blame on the sponsor as well. Very poor communication as to whom we sponsored and what to do with them. Some dude would show up in a kit with your logo on it and that would be when we found out we sponsored a team. There definitely needs to be improvement but enough of the we are worthless because we are getting some Anon's pro deal.
