Michigan cross is a joke. every year the field depths shrink and it becomes less and less more enjoyable. if your still racing it here in Michigan you must be dead.
Why has the Michigan turnout for CX been so lame? Seems it used to be better a few years ago.. Need some better courses.. How about some 2x4s or something on those hills in Waterford so you have to power up them rather than carry speed and roll up them? Sand? Flyover? I know youre kinda limited with the location, but Id like to see some new shit.
That and Michigan is just so fucking saturated with races. gravel race last weekend, next weekend, few more sprinkled in. Fuck.
A good place to start would be to quit bitching about how shitty the races are. Lend a hand to the promoters, raise money and collaborate to create new courses. The next step would be to actually show up to the events so there would be an actual race with more competition. Too logical for the scene....? I thought so.
both are very valid points. it seems as if the only ones showing up to tailwind events are the same 75 riders. I am not sure if helping the promoter will make more people show up though
So if I'm getting shitty service from McDonald's I have to get a job at McDonald's for it to get better? It should NEVER be the responsibility of the customer to do the service providers job. That's a weak cop out excuse to keep putting on shitty events. The market will dictate whether or not the races are good enough, it's not the racers fault the promoter may go the way of the Dodo Bird.
The whole Gravel road race thing is just another event devolved out of boredom. IMOP i think it lends itself to the "i feel like a hard man because i am racing on shitty roads i would normally never ride on" or the fact that you can not ride more than 10 miles in this state without hitting some pot hole infested road.
Guess I am thinking put out a better product and more people will come...
I've offered suggestions, and am signed up for the series. I do it, but will still bitch if I think its lame, cause its all we have here. Ill still be in Cincy and Louisville, dreaming some interesting course features show up around here.
