Gotta Love the position your in..you all got choices..
Obviously..the Gravel scene is the scene right.now and for good reasons..
its the calling card for hard men..and what a sweeter way to gauge your hardness..
multiple distance to suite every hard man..with that the scene already in full dick swing lets take a quick look back recap and move ahead ..
WATERLOO G & G
March 17th | Grass Lake MI
32 mile | 64 mile
whats its now kinda like season opener...
Great course solid turnout despite the nose bleeding high entry cost...still think its too much for three deep in the payout..
my two cents....drop the entry and give mason jars of pure Waterloo gravel, mud or slush as prizes!
MELTING MANN
March 25th | Vandalia MI
24 mile | 35 mile
Interesting event..
is it a race..well of course its a fucking race T you fool hell two dudes on a Wednesday night is a race..but they call it Challenge Gary...thats to keep the 5Kers happy sometimes calling things a race with people with Baby seats and recumbent tend to shy away from from that shit..and beside its more of Challenge to win gift cards to establishments most never will use...
Bah! Cool course anyhow
Lowell something:
yea..kinda think the Lowell fifty lost the plot on this one..or that Acker fella conned them into throwing in a 100 miler to get him and the rest rouge 100 milers ready for the next at week at the barry...
good course silly idea...
BARRY ROUBAIX
April 21st | Hastings MI
36 mile | 62 mile
Cant say a bad word about Ricks snobby beer powered money machine..
despite somewhat of a boring course..there is a class for every penis size, age group, bike style...do it and be the hard guy at your next bike path group ride
HELLKAAT HUNDIE
May 6th | Dorr MI
50 miles | 100 miles
Man T can totally get behind this one..a mere 30$ and no prize money....this is the type shit that could make Miscene great again..cheap entry's and cool races..eeerrrr rides...
ARCADIA GRIT & GRAVEL
May 19th | Arcadia MI
27 miles
Now this one gets Ts juices flowin..sub 30 miles and in a cool area to pedal a bike
always two thumbs up!!
THE DIVIDE
July 29th | Manton MI
34 miles | 50 miles
cant speak dont know enough...first year event...embrace it...
UNCLE JOHN'S DIRTY RIDE
September 9th | St. John's MI
Gravel racing cutting into cross..questionable...not a fan of the course and even lesser of a fan of gravel racing cutting into the fall ..thats the time for wool sweaters, jocks gettin laid at homecoming and full tilt redline boogie on a cross bike..
LORD OF THE SPRINGS
September 15th | Hastings MI
26 mile
cant speak dont know enough...first year event...the distance seems short though..
hell at this distance id like to see it be a cut down to a 40K and roll out a full gravel Time Trial...hey thats a great idea!!
MICHIGAN MOUNTAIN MAYHEM
September 29th| Boyne City MI
40 miles | 60 miles
awesome event..become the hard-man of autumn if you win this one
LOWELL 50
October 27th | Lowell MI
34 mile | 57 mile
the final stop in tour of gravel..Lowell folks bring back the 50 to keep everyone honest for the upcoming IceCream cone race..
man by golly this looks like killer way to have fun..my only gripe is the distance for each event are not consistent..Id love to see the whole series uniform in length, as well as awards etc..T-shirts, gift cards, beer, cash and pussy all seem like a odd kinda mix..stick to one and most folks be happy cept chicks..they might want dick..i dunno
Stop by again for the road preview or dont..
Love ya

T knows racing but not race organizing. Waterloo actually pays some of the staff, you know, so people can eat and have kids. Barry is an anomaly that keeps the balance sheet in the black through vast numbers of riders. Other races are pet projects and volunteer affairs at the whim of this epoch's fad… gravel, organizers without kids, "Squirrel!" and then they're gone.
I agree with T on some level. The MI road scene is on life support, so more gravel races are nice to fill in the gaps in the calendar. The organizers need to think about rider safety a little more and stop the overlapping races on the course, but all in all I'll take it.

agree
but paying the top three in a field that big is pretty lame at the cost of entry i would have more respect if it was winner take all...

Get better sponsorship if you want to pay your staff. Stop bending your customers over. That lame payout ain’t even a reach around. No KY of nothing. I do like the mason jar of gravel idea though. Unique prizes are always better, especially if you’re too cheap to hand out cash.
