Maybe I should have stated that soccer is popular on the global scale like it is only because it's extremely cheap. Ball & foot and you're playing. Cycling is outrageously expensive and out of the reach for a lot of people to afford, let alone to pay for a child to outgrow a bunch of equipment and clothing.

Yep, a lot of great athletes are surely priced out of the sport. Soccer is only as popular as it is because it's cheap.
You only need two wheels and a helmet. Everything else is just glitz and glam.
Soccer is only cheap if your kid doesn't play travel...
