By others you mean coworkers and family who most likely could care less about. Fellow competitors are fully aware of the work that is needed to win. Let's be honest though it is local racing that doesn't mean much more than bragging rights, so the over inflated egos aren't necessary.

but man some days it isnt easy to get on the podium, ego aside. I bet there are riders/racers that never see a box all season.
