The one you love and the one you hate

We all know the appropriate number of bikes to own is n+1 where n equals the number of bikes you currently own.  With multiple rides in the stable, one is bound to be your favorite: tried and true, there when you need it, and always makes you happy.  Another, like your ex-girlfriend (or wife for some of you) was a good idea at the time, but ultimately left you filled with regret and your wallet a bit lighter.

Your lover:
Gravel bikes have exploded in the last 10 years and for good reason.  Anything that lets you ride the dirt can also be ridden on the road.  Michigan doesn't have great roads to start and if you live anywhere close to a major city, cars and stop lights will make your riding miserable.  Enter the gravel bike.
Those 32c tires let you roll out of your neighborhood, cruise some pavement and then onto the dirt for hours of peaceful bliss as you crank the music so loud you can't hear anything else.
Better still, need to cross a field to make a connection? No problem.
Want to ride some tarmac to get to the next dirt segment? No problem.
Want to boost your ego by creating new Strava segments and getting the first KOM?
No problem.

The gravel bike is the most versatile making it my number one.

Your ex:
Sorta like a Tinder date, it was a good idea at the time.  Sure, it started off well and after you picked up the bar bill, maybe you got something in return.  But it ultimately left you feeling empty and questioning your decisions in life.  That's the fat bike.  Sure, all the cool kids were doing it a couple years ago, but unless you live at the tip of the Michigan ring finger where there's a foot of snow on the ground 8mo a year, you don't need it, and pretty much look ridiculous riding it.  With exception to DC's and his national title, just say no and use OK Cupid instead.

 The Cinelli Super Course Pista..
is there anything more simple...
more elegant than a track bike..and this bike is the epitome of smooth and style.

This Diamond Back TT thing.......
I know i know this is the future but i just cant even find one thing to like...

this in my opinion screams GET OFF MY LAWN....
i dunno maybe that would all change after a quick spin on it...picking off after work tri geeks at the local Island lake  loop...

but until then im smashing a pay phone in hate

love:
Giant Propel Advanced SL 0 Disc – Que Jeremiah Johnson…
Seat mast and integrated bars; yes please.
Great lines.  Great looks.

hate:
Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS
Que the puking skater kid…
Everything about this bike screams puke.
Terrible lines.
That awful bar/stem that looks like a goose.
A wheelbase so short the front wheel chops into the down tube.
Those fucking brakes..

at least the new one is a disc bike

man.I can see my tired old butt on that Giant propel..
The Giant camp touts it makes its carbon fiber  from thread to glue to you...but for years they have fell short in the graphic department..not on this bitch shit she sure is fine..it looks just sooo dam fast..im even loving the semi horizontal top tube........

Eddy Merckx liege 75...I love the looks of this bike ima big fan of traditional looking rigs with modern hardware..the orange the updated graphics would have me selling my keds collection to grind out the rotten chip seal..

The Cervelo C3 8020
is just dam ridiculous...
I be curious to know how this thing steers  the wheelbase looks soo long..kinda let me down knowing the long history of cool bikes...
