Friday Im in Love

How it was done..

The baby was Cyclocross and its parents were a series
a series that meant something...sitting here randomly stumbling through Ts poor typing skills he aint gonna sugar coat it..

This series meant something..the parents didnt try to cash in on one big day..or leave it up to random parents to parent this child..it took ownership and guided this too a healthy series...
but you ask how was this time different and how did it differ from today...

  • There was one promoter handling this series
  • The schedule of the days events and start times remained the same all autumn..why should this be important..folks like routine and people like to plan there life..even then before the distraction of smart phones people are busy.....
  • awards were the same week after week..you could count on it
  • there was unity among the racers............................. it had a following
  • it didnt interfere with other events going on in the scene or even in neighboring states Friday
  • each course was unformed..not pro a UCI taped course one week and then a gas company flagged the next
  • Someone took the time to announce the shit..people like hearing there name...,
  • it meant something to win the state championship but it also meant something to win the overall

Then something happened...

This has been my exact complaint for the said excuse with the MBRA road series the last few years. Every day should have an identical schedule, payout, racer number, etc. Make it a true series by taking out as many questions regarding event quality as you can. With routine the best you can do is often good enough for most people it doesn't have to be new and earth shattering.
