Like a good marriage gone bad..Michigan Cyclocross started to crumble..
the flowers stopped..
the good night kisses ended,
the opening of the car doors..the compliments the random i love yous...dwindled
but in the case of Michigan CX it was..
the white stripes stopped playing at registration
the scoring was often lame
the awards where haphazardly handed out
The cool announcing went silent
and the turnouts after September 7th weaken
folks skipped the podium and the courses were being designed by people that have never raced anything out of the zip code...
like your eyesight going bad pretty soon we are trying to fix near blindness with dollar store general easy readers..
But it was all for not though..
why you ask....
well there were a few crafty folks standing outside our scene watching our monster be built....the fine folks south of the border the OVCX crew watched us closely..when the CX Miscne was in full effect the those guys didnt have a leg to stand on..
Get-o courses..slim turnouts and Starbuck gift cards were all they had..but then they were like
fuck this shit.Miscene is failing..the midwest needs to be heard before cross dies a untimely death here..and they took our good shit away...
and well now we have what we have..which in all due respect aint so a bad..

But lets face it....when your own State Champion wont race in your series other than to come and take away the title come the second week of December is pretty lame...

good riders cant afford to race here..not if they really want to excel at a National level..
ever since USAC went to the points system its just not worth it...when you can get more points for finishing 12th at a OVCX race than a 2nd at LeFrost cross somethins up..the numbers dont lie...now i know i know not everyone has the ambition to be the next Jpow..really...its still pretty sad..
So we have a few guys out there driving there asses off to get good nothin new there..if you have lived long enough to remember when..the Pony did it...the Blue Wave did it.the WIZ did it....the Bunny did it...now Scotty and a few others are doin it..

Mr T, lets talk about the Trophy, both men's and women's. They need to come back at the beginning of the season, and put on the registration table. They need to go to every race. So everyone can look at it, and see the names that are on it and strive to get there name on it.

@11:30,A) check your maths, its 8 months. and B) you take a fucking picture. you want it back at the end of the season? earn it. Cat 5's are what pay the bills champ, not the masters who whine about not winning $20 for their cat 3 4th place wide angle podium, or the elites who win more than they pay in. You drive your 5k bike, in your 60k Lincoln, to a $30 race. Youd didnt get there as a race promoter, nor are you the next neo-pro at 42, so put up or shut up. Getting your teeth kicked in at waterford isnt paying your dues, paying your dues is paying your dues. Get your firm to sponsor a race like bike law does, or ask your dental office to get behind a team like Cosdi.

The reason why all we have Cat 5's left is who in the hell wants to pay $30 dollars to race on a candy ass course with no competition. Why would I pay $30 dollars to race take first and get a point value bigger than your wife's waste size, nah fuck that. Anyone who is not a candy ass like yourself is going to Ohio, paying $35 dollars to race OVCX get a point value worthy of your suffering. "Paying your dues" that's preparing for nationals who gives a fuck about some dollar store medal or a $20 dollar pay out. If nationals is not your end goal you need to take your fat candy ass off your bike and hang it up because you shouldn't be racing anymore.
Im with ya man, only pointing out the struggles of the scene, not saying youre any or all of those things listed. if you race instate, you win, but your rankings lose. if you race out of state, you may not win, but youre chastise for leaving the scene. Its a cruel world out there. Maybe CX just isnt cool anymore, maybe it never was. I sure as hell never was. $80 for an open course gravel race and a finishers medal pulls pedal'ers out of the wood work. maybe, just maybe michiganders just dont wanna run with their bikes anymore.

How many Michigan sceners even know there is a cup? The cups are more than one person, It represent the whole scene. Every kid in hockey know what the cup represents and strives to get his name on it, Maybe little Timmy or others would of seen it, all season in registration,they would of strived a little harder to go take it. Maybe other how back it in early would stay around to get the cup, It would build a better series,
