Important information on race course merging and rider safety. With over 3,000 people out on the course there will be lots of passing and rider interactions. Be sure to let your presence be known politely while passing others, and if you're just cruising along be sure to stay to the far right so quicker riders can safely pass. Approximately 5 miles from the finish the 62 and 100 mile routes merge back with the 22 and 36 mile course. All riders will share this final stretch so it's important to be aware of your surroundings and to be KIND to one another! Faster riders, it is your duty to safely overtake other riders. If you're at the front of a large group it's your duty to communicate to the group what's going on. No one's race is any more important than anyone else's. Have fun and be kind to one another out there, it's that attitude that makes gravel racing so special!

Coming into that section with a big group is scary as fuck. I have seen a couple of nasty crashes with the slower traffic being oblivious to what is going on. Any crashes that happen are the fault of the race director as they set this up knowing of the danger.
Yea, that whole overlapping thing is just plain wrong for the guys really up front racing.

My big question and i am sure its going to make someone all mad, But when did bike races become, im just riding it to ride?
I thought the whole thing about bike racing was to compete, as soon as people started dressing in costume and pinned a number, not to mention fixed flats dead center of a dirt road they lost me.
1:11 unfortunately for those that love the idea of competing against others, competing has taken a back seat to experiencing at the moment. In order to make more money races have to appeal to more people than the few that want to truly test themselves against others and simply are looking to have an experience at their level of hard. That shouldn't be a bad thing as the more people that ride and attend races the better. We should welcome these people with open arms and thank them for the events, prize purses, and experiences we get as people wanting to race. That being said any time a race needs to put this kind of disclaimer out there, there is a safety issue and claiming that a pack of riders is disrespectful for racing to the finish line is a cop out. Sometimes cashing checks and talking about how big an event is gets in the way of realizing that you sold your event to too many people as a race and didn't actually mean it.

The worlds largest gravel road race that grosses over $250K, this is bullshit! All of the shorter races should be finished before the main event riders reach the merge point. Basic like Iceman, the pros should go off last.
