Yes indeed i did because where we are going its only befitting we drive..
AWW please tell me your not taking me back to school?
you are correct young lad, but.. not in a normal sense of the school..im going to be driving you down memory lane tonight, through a time changing place of both time and speed.
So lets turn the Way Back machine to the year 2004 Shall we son..
Yes Sherm..but for a reason. But that is a trip unto itself. Lets stay focused young Sherman.
The team is now composed of three of the fastest CX racers in the region, all with the money, time and passion to pile into a station wagon and hone there CX swords against the nations best Elite cyclocross racers. And then bring that blade back to the mitten to use it on the local hot shoes. The times were good, and the times were hard, UCI points were getting collected and reputations were getting made.
In early December the team was set to merge with the Now growing semi "official Saturn of Toledo team. After brief negotiations between the The Black Ace and the Current team captain Jim Regan. But ultimately plans fell through. It was a NO GO. For the boys. And the team sat with little to no money and or equipment. Oh I almost forgot. The Team had picked up to more riders in the fall so now the trio is a quintet.
The Black Ace drew an un expected card shall we say, and called on a favor from an old friend. Seemed the Ace still had his pro-connections
Wait a second..Mr Peabody. You mean the The Black Ace was a pro-dealer??
Mr Peabody, is that all the boys did was race Cyclocross?
Walker leading the pain train at Waterford
Oh im afraid not Sherm. in fact the guys gathered results all across three disciplines of cycling.
The squad was quite well rounded The Black Ace was on of the Midwest best all arounders, Too White was coming into his own, and in the first year of the teams inception of Cane Creek won the Michigan State CX Title. By the Fall of 2006 the team earned the distinction of being the Blue Wave as most of the Cyclcross races were Cane Creek trio on the front or the podiums.
So did they win all the time?
No no and no..the boys were fast, i believe there impact was far greater than there results alone. You see Sherm, the fellas traveled quite a bit out of state, often leaving the local races to scene regulars, but by traveling more they brought back knowledge and strength that i believe helped raise the bar for others. It wasn't long before more riders saw the benefit of the competition and bigger races a mere state a away, and then they too started to caravan to out of state events. And with this new found surge. the need for more teams started to develop and rivalry's began to heat up.
By mid 2005 The Red Army was being built. and Thus a new chapter in the scene Cyclocross was war was about to emerge..
No what Mr Peabody? is this the end of the story?
