Hey Henry........................

 Yeah..

Well did you come up with an answer?

An answer for what?

The question you were asked Monday night?

Oh that question...

Yeah, I think I got something close,

When is a bike race not a bike race?

Well my noble friend, in the spirit of competition, and all things glory at what point during any extreme form of physical exertion is one athlete able to quickly and artfully snap photos and even a oh my selfie! Has the world of bike racing so deliberately casual that one can reach into a pocket remove a device and than twist up a grin for the faithful followers of there many forms of social media?

Well Henry, I agree, but I don’t believe it’s every aspect of the cycling community.

No I stand corrected, it is not!

Let me clarify, but before everyone silently piles on old Hank, it’s not every discipline or even in this case every distance of an event.

But it seems there is this breaking point of amateur cycling that the distance becomes more of an act of survival than a true, grit your teeth and pump out maximum wattage in the pursuit of glory, when the events starts going the distance of ultra distance (anything over the 100 mile mark, I believe 100 mile events are in the realm of normal working stiffs) in my opin...any event teetering on six and half to seven plus hour slog fest nearly a day at the office in saddle...it becomes an act of attrition, with a spirit more akin to the legs of those once popular celebrity fondos.

When you can take the time ham it up for the Apple. it starts lose its flavor for a race in the book Henry and all his opinionated shit, per say

Im not saying the guys and gals doing these events are not fit and worthy athletes of the so-called Miscene, I just shake my head a little more often. I suppose its just not my shtick .
