KTR DCROSS

Wait no longer SUCKA
When a mans thoughts hit him you gotta go with it, and that time is now, you lucked out FOO. A Man could go into long drug out story, go toe to toe, chin to chin, blow for blow. with every second of the past days events, aint gonna do that, this here space is for michigan Homie's Only, dont need to tell ya Jp mopped the field up with our boys, and some Canadian chick did it to the womens group, Hell whats with the women, equal pay? equal nonsense. When women are dam near nearly lapped and still bringin home more bacon than hard earned man money , shit dont make no sense.
The story goes like this same venue as last couple, hotter than witches Tit on Saturday, left many with mouths drier than a popcorn fart. C/B and youngins? T's not goin there, too early for him when gym and god call, nothin stands in a mans way . dont like it? talk to me when you see me.
So the old guys? that tall sucker from specialized came up on the short end of the ugly stick, took 2 nd both days in the 35 group, Other homies like Stark, Michigan Giants impression Kojak and old FRCC standouts also ran.
The elite cream of the crop, better than the best. PHH, hard to go against the likes of Jp, euro dudes and hard man. best man with mi zip code would be mike wissink he cracked the 10 both days and proved to some of his comp he's for REAL and carries a loaded gun. the man who calls himself the black ace keeps defying age and finished next up. the Little pony ran wild all weekend. youngest of mich homies, Vincent Roberge had fun doin somethin different, dont surpirise me as he held his own weeks back at some pavement race. other faces in the crowd rode decent. The guy who calls himself the black ace's team mate who looks like that evil cat from Flash Gordon. put in a solid ride. how can a man leave out a home town hero? that hippy lookin dude from FRCC. double dnf's.. tough luck. T doesnt like hippies, but he seems like a nice fellow . just a bad choice in facial hair. Big props should go out to all the rest that put it out there . T's proud.
women, ?
told ya T aint goin into that. but a man would have to be DEAD or queer to not notice a nice pair leggs, and there were plenty of em sweatin it out all weekend.
Big hand of thanks should go out to robert and crew from tailwind and all the hard work of FRCC, and most of all Jeff from the kinetic bicycle shop for makin this one happen.

Thought there was no cutting down of anyone this year on the TMS blog? So are you saving that woman shouldn't race and/or get any money for it? Or are you just cutting down a young rider who's trying to figure it out? Woman pay entry fees, gas, and lodging fees as well. Maybe if you rode better you MI/OH boys wouldn't whine so much.....

Mr T, I'm glad you enjoyed our legs & all but I pity the fool that starts talk'n smack about how much $ us women don't deserve.

It wasn't a great showing as far as #'s for the ladies but i'll be damned if those that did show don't deserve a good payout for their efforts. The women that race should not be punished for those women that don't.

Mens saturday race starters: 34
Womens saturday race starters: 10
Mens sunday race starters: 31
Womens sunday race starters: 10

Mens Purse(top25)$2289
Womens Purse(top15)$1375
---------------------
Difference: Men get 10 more spots paid out with 914 more $$$

I don't see a problem.

I heard some of the women touting how they were going to get paid to JRA (just ride around)but hey, I'm sure they busted their ass and deserved that cash just as much as the guys right?
The diff is the guy in 25th would chop you all day long and spit you out to take that money home. NOT so sure the women are so cut throat.
Prop's to them if they're getting paid. Just wish they had better numbers to support the race and who wouldn't like to see more legs.

We know TMS likes the ladies right!

I thought Mr. T sold all of his jewelry. If he has an issue with the men's payout he should fork over some of his own dough. Like the first comment says women pay the same entry fees and travel expenses so they certainly deserve a decent payout. There was no need for the slam on the MI/OH boys though.

There is more to watch then just the legs on these girls, they are all great athletes in their own right and deserve a little more respect.

As far as the payout goes, the women are given a decent purse to hopefully entice more women to come out and give it a go. Unfortunately the big wigs at the UCI put the hurt on the promoters by scheduling 2 other races the same weekend. If there were only 24 riders in the mens field I'm sure there would still be the same comments about just riding around for money. I'm also sure you could find plenty of people out there that think nobody should get paid if they get lapped by the leader whether it's in the mens or the women's race. Maybe it's time for a rule change so we don't run into that in the future, it sure would save the promoters some money. Especially if Page is out there lapping riders left and right that are still collecting a check.

Cross sucks!

You're just a bunch of whiny ass SOB's that should quit bitchin and race your bike. The M/W thing has been going on forever, leave it alone. Option 2: Get good enough to earn a pay check, but no one in the scene can do anything but pick up the leftovers against the real boy's. TMS roadies eat at the table! HA, HA, HA! Just lucky there were 2 other races or all of you would have been watching from the sidelines. Maybe you should put on a bra on and do a tape back next time so you can JRA. Oh wait, most of you were!

Who from TMS road scene eats at the same table with anyone from the top tier of road racing in the world, the answer is no one. I don't think anyone whether in the women's race or the men's race was just riding around. You don't fork over $150 to just ride around, the only person that maybe made that money back this weekend was Anne from the FRCC.

Anonymous said...

Graham Howard & Kacey Manderfield for starters!

Anonymous said...

So Graham Howard is eating at the same table with the top tier riders from Europe, I don't think so. If anyone from Michigan right now deserve a shot at that it would be Jake Rytlewski. No one is racing with those strong men of our sport. The point is that we here in Michigan are small beans compared to the rest of the world, we all need to respect each other. We don't need people slamming different genres of bike racing, why can't we all just support each other rather then smack talking. We should just be happy that there is some form of racing in Michigan that is bringing in some of the top talent from around the world.

Jake, Kirk O'bee, etc.

Quit bitchin, keep racing!

Anonymous said...

Frank Pipp, go U'pers!

Anonymous said...

Again, are those riders eating at the table with the big boys or just enjoying the leftovers as the Michigan Scene 'cross riders supposedly do. Just to clarify the big boys are the likes of Contador, Boonen, Bettini, etc.

To Hank's point I disagree. The big wigs at the UCI just take promoter's money and sanction the races. They have nothing to do with scheduling. The promoters choose the dates.

If Robert wants this race to succeed, he has to move it to a later date or hire a marketing firm. There's no way he can compete with the Northwest weekend, especially now that it has become part of the NACT. Neither option seems likely though. The calendar is already saturated and there would certainly be another conflict. And marketing has never been Robert's strong suit. Cycling is a very hard sport to sell in Michigan, let alone trying to sell the niche within the sport.

The race in PA was a first year and drew about the same amount of Elites as we did. There may have been 4-5 that would have been willing to come here and vice versa, so I think those two events can co-exist.

As far as Ca$h goes, the UCI dictates the minimum purses for men and women. Years ago, it used to be that you had to finish on the lead lap in order to collect. They've softened up since then unfortunately. If you gals want more grip, come play with the big boys. Lynne Bessette and Katie Compton did it last year. Otherwise, quit getting lapped in a 45 minute event.

Matt said...

All Robert does is choose his race weekend, not what other races are going on that weekend. Ultimately it's the UCI are the ones that decide how many races to allow on a given date. Last season KTR had one other event to compete against (Star Crossed). Since the that race is on the west coast there isn't a conflict of interest. It was the UCI that decided it would be alright to schedule an event In PA which we all know is fairly close to us, causing some riders to race there as opposed to driving to are great state of MI. The U.S. is a growing market and the UCI is going to do some money grabbing as much as they can, so they don't care if they hurt a few promoters here or there. It's all about the benjamins, and it won't ever change. This is obviously only my opinion, I've seen what these organizations do to the small guys that put these races on and I don't want it to happen to cyclo-cross.

Wow, lot of crazy talk about the UCI. Ah, this happens all the time all year long. Let's see, Cross race, what 150 competitors? How many more would have came if there was no race out east, 10, 15? 75% of the boys and 100% of the girls still would have got paid. Oh, yeah, the 10 or 15 more that come from the east, competition for Page, the top of the list and only moves you down the result sheet; or do you think you would have rode better in a bigger field?.

Let's go to races, thank the promoter, quit bitchin and keep racing. Robert, thanks for the great event! And let’s all breathe… In with Love… Out with hate.

Pretty cool to see Foshag's name in the Cross Vegas results. Finishing on the lead lap with a stacked field.

Hey Scene,

Have you seen this?

Hated - G.G. Allin & the Murder Junkies

G.G. Allin, lead singer of the Murder Junkies and cult icon of the 1980s underground punk scene, made Sid Vicious look like Pat Boone. Allin's onstage performance art was equal parts guerilla and gorilla, and included him flinging excrement and performing violent acts against himself and others. Hated was completed just before Allin's death from an overdose in 1991. Director Todd Phillips went on to direct Road Trip and Starsky and Hutch.

So, I move to Cobbler Square lofts apartments in Chicago on Wells Street and North Avenue in June of 1990. It’s close to this neat progressive bar called “The Exit”. One night, I think the next year, I hear a huge commotion. Hundreds of people are screaming and running out of the bar. I think the bar must be on fire or something, but people are yelling, “He threw shit on us… he just threw shit on us…”

I haven’t thought of this memory in over 15 years, but now I’m connecting the dots with G.G. Allin… that’s some sick shit my friend. Made big news in Chicago the next day. Seriously, what are the chances that I was across the street?
