Good Evening, and a happy almost spring to the MichiganScene.
Is it just me, but have you ever been alone, out of the eye sight of another human, and just have fidget with your nose, you start scratching it, and maybe a quick dig, and then you take the plunge, could be a bare digit, could be wrapped in a tissue, but you get a chance to really do what Like to refer as some easy and simple self duct cleaning...
It’s not a myth nor is it a false observation that Mother Nature has had her troubles coming into her stride so far this year, but that looks to be on the change, at least for the upcoming weekend.
Rudy wanted a report, and I casually ignored him, but then realized ya know what the heck, let’s check in and see what’s on tap for the upcoming weekend.
By golly it looks like it goes without saying the Willow time trial might be back on the map! Nearly 160 riders, this has to be some kind of record? Correct me if I’m wrong, by gee wizard, I don’t believe the park has scene this many numbers since well into early Y2K. Hopefully the fine the Park crew has been on the ball and managed to hot patch the larger pot holes, and road separations
Now just slightly to the west in neighboring County, the infamous Cone Azalia will taking place. Boasting almost 200 registers this too has got to be another monumental sized event, oddly enough the promoters have kept the confusion down to a minimum, and gave gravel aficionados less choice and still keeping the vibe high. Yes, sir, no Phart bike, no single speed, no SuperDave, No Jay Dire, no Paul Martin...and No skinny road bike classes at this event, three distances and that’s that,
But you do get a Dan Yankus, and a former from way back winner Jeff Crawford attendance
and of course rumors are rumbling that the fine folks at the County road commission have caught wind of the event and have kindly obliged to servicing a few of the roads with a fine dose of golf ball size gravel.
And last but certainly not least out there in Ann Arbor area the AAVC spring Crit series resumes with week number two of its rider clinics and industrial park race series. The course got good reviews and features a much safer last corner than years past, currently over 120 riders registered and with a few days still to go I can surely see this number growing to over 150.
Take a look at that , nearly 500 riders pinned, and all of it happening in the loneliest county’s of the state, I don’t want to jinx myself but at least for one fleeting weekend, you would think it’s 2005 all over again! And to think you need to drive to Penciltucky just to get your groove on...
I don’t know bout you, looks like you can be a little choosy with those two nostrils after all because unless your like a few folks, you might be able to enjoy the weekend after all.
Regards Tripper
