Mr Peabody. Well Sherm you got my attention…where are we going tonight

Sherman. Mr. Peabody we are going back in time to more colorful place before the world was overtaken by the internet. A time when creativity was much more than just a stagnant page on a tablet or smartphone.

Mr Peabody, I’m intrigued.

Sherman. Mr. Peabody. I think we are missing a little flavor of our Sport. I’m going to narrow it down a tad to speed things up. Cycling magazines. And more importantly Velo News. ..Velo News was such a rad publication. They offered soo much yet despite in its later editions. Velo news had rad shit,

Rad Shit like. Cartoons..

O'Grady was the best

They always had stuff like Hot n Not, the Vin ticker, training advice from coaches, and real people. The photography was always top notch and the writing in my opinion was great. Something about getting that in the mail once a month was a great thing. Anticipation is underrated.

Mr Peabody, yes Sherman, I must admit I myself would rather hold a magazine or book than

Sherman nearly everything about that publication was great. They had a North American road race schedule. They had hot up-and-coming riders. They’re cyclocross coverage with second to none and I believe that’s one of the reasons cross grew as big as it did because they promoted it so well.

Mr Peabody Well, Sherman I do believe that journalism is not the same as what it was 15 years ago before the Internet, there’s nothing more stale to me than going to one of the cycling websites in reading the stagnant AI influenced reviews of bicycles, helmets, and other crap

Sherman Mr. Peabody I have to believe that there is a large contingent of people in our scene right now and possibly reading this post that do not even know what a magazine is actually about not only as it is informative as well as educational plus it gave people a platform to be creative and avenues for other manufacturers and companies to promote their products rather than just being in some lame pop-up. I seriously would read those old magazines at least a dozen times before the upcoming month would land in my my mail box.

Mr Peabody, yes Sherm, this was a nice trip back in time, hopefully people remember how rad it was before everything got in such a god dam hurry.
