Yo fools, 

Do me a solid, and stick with me on this and i promise to keep this ramble on the brief.

One folk asked me a few days ago..

T you been around the block more than the fair share of those that are in the now, why do you think the scene is a “garbage fire” that is burning out of control “ 

Well I can give you the long, short, and of course opinionated version.

But instead I’ll just give you this..

So T asked this folk to be more specific, and come at me with a more direct stab.

T, why do believe the scene, “the road scene” is operating at Cat 3/4 level?

Here’s my take...

The length of events. There not long enough! road race for a 1/2 level 10 or so years ago was a minimum of 85 miles, now there almost all are around the 60 some odd mark, 

And you can’t just throw the...it’s road racing and it’s struggling thing out there.....

this includes most gravel events, it’s not enough to weed the somewhat..no disrespect here..inexperienced, most folks can suffer for 3 hours, hell most even old man T can still do that!  oh I know what your thinking..

But I’ve done the Weekday Worlds, and I did a big stage race back east and I..I.....

Still not enough, I’ll admit big watts, is pretty impressive, just like a highly tuned F1 engine, but give them to a person that hasn’t died a thousand deaths against 35 other just like him four or five seasons, and you have what we had here last week. 

Chopping wheels, riding the gutter, dirt bike brapping power-sliding wheel drifting passes..

Ugh!

Now T..wait a second..

Do you think the virtual world has any thing to do with the poor bike handling skills and sloppy maneuvers that have had taken place ?

Nuff said, and thats whole nuther topic for another rant..

It’s slowly deteriorating and has been since way before covid 70 minute crits and or race car track worlds are just short enough for the new 2 season fast legitimate Cat 4 to hang and crank out there 1400 watt sprint..take it back to 90 minutes on 6 corner crit and all of a sudden it don’t be like that. Separations happen, riders, get dropped and lapped, the whole dynamics of the race change.

I get it, I ain’t flinging turds at any particular or even the race promoters that are diligent at putting on these events, I actually applaud them, it’s work, and there trying to keep the scene alive.

It’s like sleeping four in a twin bed, it’s up to you on how arrange yourself. 

I get it.

I’m just glad I’m too slow to be in that show...

Peace, love and whatver makes you do that thing that people that like heavy metal music do with there fingers...
